Story
Vinny (b 3/2009) is a laid-back, senior fella looking to live out his retirement in doggy paradise! Vinny is a Silky Terrier with a gentle, sweet-n-social temperament. Vinny gets along well with children (he enjoys some gentle play) but requests that any children in the household understand respectful boundaries with pets. At Vinny's age he's been there done that so he prefers to leave the rough and tumble to the youngsters! This old fella loves to snuggle under the covers and sleep warm in bed with his favorite people; he loves his human companions and makes friends with people easily. Vinny is also patient with other dogs and currently lives with another doggie friend. This senior sweetie would love to find a calm home with a retired person/couple or a family who enjoy some of the following (in no particular order): leisurely walks around the block, old episodes of Dallas, spending time together, keeping their lap warm with a new doggie friend! Vinny is a guy who will benefit from wearing belly bands inside the home as he likes to mark his territory; belly bands are an afforable, simple solution to potty training, senior accidents, and other behaviors of this kind. Potential adopters will also want to keep in mind that Vinny does experience mild seizures now and then, for which he takes CBD oil and Gabapentin . This senior sweetheart is looking for long days of window watching, warm cuddles with his humans, and living the easy life he deserves! Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that a dog is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home. This means that our exposure to the dog is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions. The suggested adoption donation for Vinny is $265. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs. If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
THIS POST WILL BE REMOVED WHEN THE DOG IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. INQUIRIES ABOUT THE ADOPTION STATUS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. Let me tell you a story about little Henry the 4 year old Silky Terrier and how he ended up with Wag N Train. During the early spring of 2020, Mama wanted a puppy, and a puppy she got! Little baby Henry was everything she dreamed of and more. This tiny snuggly puppy was her special boy. They went everywhere together! They took trips to the living room, to the kitchen, to the basement, and then back to the living room. It was lockdown you see, there weren’t many options to get out and socialize. So, Henry and Mama spent their days together, just the two of them. Henry grew and grew, he learned to potty outside and how to go on walks, but it was still lockdown so he didn’t meet many people or other dogs. After a while, they would go on car rides to meet other people and their dogs, but Henry was pretty attached to Mama and didn’t really like anyone else. That made it hard for him to have playdates or go to dog parks, but he didn’t care, he had his mama! Then, in the winter of 2022, Mama got really sick. Henry was sad they didn’t go on car rides or walks anymore, but he was happy to snuggle her while she was in bed. Mama would pet his head and tell him he was a good boy and he loved to hear it. Mama never got better though and one day a man came and gently picked Henry up off the bed and took him to a new home. Henry was beside himself. He didn’t like the man who carried him away from his mama’s bed, and he really didn’t like the man’s boy dogs. The man didn’t know what to do and he asked Wag N Train for help. Of course, we welcomed him with open arms. Henry lives with a foster mom now and is doing just okay. Due to his past, he has a lot of catching up on socialization and learning how to be a dog. He doesn’t like men, kids, male dogs, or any dog bigger than him which is pretty much all of them. Grooming and nail trims are scary, and he needs to be muzzled for those. Henry's Foster mom is helping him realize the world isn’t all that bad, but It is going to take time. Until then, Henry is hoping to find his “Other Mother” or a new mama to help him be the Good Boy his mama always said he was. We know his new Mama is out there and it may take some time to find her. If you think Henry might have a place in your home, please apply today. The suggested adoption donation for Henry is a minimum of $400 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts to an extended geographical area as long as we can locate a local volunteer to perform the required home visit. Approved adopters are required to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. We do not arrange transport, or fly our rescue dogs without a "pet nanny". All of our dogs that come from a commercial breeding facility require a securely fenced yard AND a resident companion dog, unless the dog's bio states otherwise. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment. Adoption applications can be found at www.wagntrainterrierrescue.com/adoption-information

Story
Nessa (b. 1/2020) is a Maltipoo with a very sad past... While driving on a cold afternoon in December, a good samaritan caught a glimpse of this 11 lb pup laying in a ditch. They immediately stopped and scooped up this little gal who was alive but paralyzed from a broken back. After having no luck finding her family, an MP volunteer was contacted and Nessa was quickly brought to rescue. Numerous clinics and specialists were consulted and it has been determined that Nessa is not a candidate for surgery. Nessa is a master scooter and a total diva.  Nessa needs a home that understands her needs and will allow her to live out her diva life.  There are a number of potential complications that Nessa may experience, which means her future is uncertain. Therefore, this sweetheart is looking for a foster to adopt or furever foster who can stomach the hard truths that come with a pet in Nessa's condition. Nessa will need a situation that allows for her best human friend to be home more often than not, and will need to be kenneled when left alone to make sure she stays safe. She requires a diaper and regular maintenance throughout the day to keep her clean and feeling comfy! Muddy Paws will continue to monitor Nessa's health and will provide on-going financial support for her future. Nessa loves to be carried around the house by her foster and she's got a good eye for making sure everything is in its place! Nessa is a sweet pup who loves to give kisses and is the best little couch cuddler you could ask for. For now, Nessa is nestled up comfortable, safe, warm, and living her best life! If you are curious about Nessa and her requirements, reach out to Muddy Paws for more information. Due to her medical needs, Nessa needs an adopter / foster that lives within a 50 mile radius.  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
