Story
Meet Milo, a charming male Shih Tzu poodle mix weighing 9 pounds. Initially reserved, Milo prefers to stay in the back of his kennel when visitors arrive, showing his anxiety through barking and occasional growling. Though he won't take treats directly from hands, he'll happily enjoy them if tossed to him. Despite his initial apprehension, Milo's bravery is slowly growing, occasionally venturing towards the front of his kennel when feeling more comfortable. He shows a fondness for other dogs and, with patience, will cautiously sniff and assess human visitors. Milo's love for toys is evident, and he enjoys choosing his canine companions carefully. With a need for understanding and patience, Milo awaits a home that will help him overcome his fears and blossom into the confident dog he was meant to be. He is awaiting adoption at the National Mill Dog Rescue.----- Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience. Story
Hey there, I'm Cindy, a vibrant Shih Tzu weighing a petite 8 pounds. Living in a foster home has been quite the journey for me! Despite facing challenges with my jaw, I'm a resilient little lady who savors every thick soup meal with gusto. My sassy personality adds a spark to every moment, and I'm mastering new skills like navigating patio steps and honing my training. Car rides are a delight, and I'm happiest when surrounded by calm canine companions. Though I can't play with toys, I'm overflowing with love and ready to share it with my forever family. Are you ready to welcome a spirited girl like me into your home? Let's embark on this adventure together!- - - - - -Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. Please contact Constance (connibouchard@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.Rescued dogBiography Important Information Please read! If you are interested in me after reading about me, please visit my site, http://www.breederadoptions.org and follow the instructions. The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Maggie, and I am little Maltese girl who is 3 years old, and I weigh 10 pounds. I am very timid with this big new world so an all-adult home and a sibling to teach me the ropes is a must. If you have been waiting for a gorgeous Maltese, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Love, Maggie 021724-08  May 8, 2024, 8:45 pm
