Story
Hi, I’m Robyn! I came to the shelter as a stray, scared, matted, and dirty, with a badly broken leg that ultimately had to be amputated. Even after everything I’ve been through, I’m a gentle, sweet girl with warm brown eyes and so much love to give. I like to take things slowly—my crate is my safe place, and at first I preferred to observe from a distance. With patience and kindness, I started venturing out, exploring rooms, and eventually coming closer for soft pets and behind-the-ear scratches (those are my favorite!). I do best in calm, quiet environments and feel most comfortable around gentle adults. Too much noise or fast movement can be overwhelming for me, but when things are peaceful, my loving and resilient spirit really shines through. I enjoy wandering freely, soaking up sunny spots, and being near my people in my own careful way. I’m still healing and building confidence, but with patience, understanding, and lots of love, I know I can become a deeply loyal and special companion who brings incredible heart to the right home. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #: 3537

Story
Current Location: Hanover, PA Meet Squash: A Tiny Sweetheart Who Needs Your Patient Love At just 12 pounds and 7 months old, this little Shih Tzu mix is still very much a puppy navigating a big, sometimes overwhelming world. Squash is sweet, gentle, and curious, with a heart full of love for the people he trusts. Once he's comfortable with you, he loves to be held, stay near his person, and show you just how affectionate he can be. Squash has the energy you'd expect from a young puppy. He's extremely energetic and requires frequent activity, mental stimulation, and structured outlets to keep him happy and balanced. He loves to chew on his toys and toy bones, and a fenced yard would be wonderful for letting him run and burn off that puppy energy, though it's not a requirement. Here's what makes Squash special and what he needs: he's a little shy and nervous until he feels comfortable. New sounds, people, and experiences can feel scary to this tiny guy, and he needs a patient family who will support him as he learns that the world isn't meant to be frightening. He's working on meeting new people and can be wary at first, but he's always friendly. He just needs time and gentle encouragement. Squash is great at meeting new dogs and is very responsive to praise and food motivation with those he's comfortable with. Because of his nervousness and the fact that he's still learning about the world, a home without younger kids may be best. We're not sure how he'd react to children sharing his toys or moving unpredictably around him. This sweet boy needs someone who understands that beneath his concerns is a gentle soul who just wants to feel safe and loved. With patience, consistency, and compassion, Squash will blossom into the confident, affectionate companion he's meant to be. If you have the time and heart to help this tiny treasure find his courage, Squash is ready to trust you with his whole heart.

Story
Certified Lap Monsters Warning: Extreme cuteness ahead. These Shih Tzu–Yorkie puppies are tiny balls of fluff with BIG cuddle energy. Soft? ✅ Fluffy? ✅ Totally obsessed with their people? Absolutely. They love following their humans around like little shadows and are happiest when they can plop themselves right into your lap (personal space not included). Whether it’s cuddle time, nap time, or “just because” time, these pups are always ready to snuggle. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, lap‑loving best friend, congratulations—you just found them. I'm searching for... * someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hrs, at least not until I am older. The older I am the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quick and when I'm bored I could get in trouble. * I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. Professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun! * I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever! Current location: Woodbridge, VA Available to go home on 2/1/26
