🐾 MAUI — AUTISM ASSISTANCE SERVICE DOG 🐾 Maui is a very special young dog who was bred, raised, and professionally trained for autism assistance service work. Maui was previously placed with a family, but after placement we determined that the home environment was not an appropriate fit for him at this time. We made the decision to bring him back into our program so we could find the right long-term home for him. Our priority now is finding Maui a person or family who understands his training, his needs, and the lifestyle he was raised to have. 🦮 TRAINED FOR AUTISM ASSISTANCE Maui has received extensive training specifically geared toward autism assistance, including elopement prevention and deep pressure therapy. He has been trained to: • Perform a down-stay during an elopement attempt, remaining in position when his person attempts to run or leave • Provide deep pressure therapy in three positions — sitting, lying down, and while his person is seated in a chair • Pull a wheelchair • Retrieve items — currently a work in progress as he continues developing this skill • Walk appropriately on leash • Remain with his person • Avoid bolting through open doors • Maintain position and stay with his person when working 🎓 TITLES & ACCOMPLISHMENTS Maui has earned: 🏅 AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) 🏅 CGC Advanced (CGC-A) 🏅 CGC Urban 🏅 AKC STAR Puppy 🏅 Trick Dog Novice 🧠 OBEDIENCE & POSITIONING Maui knows: Sit • Stand • Down • Stay • Head Down • Back Up • Finish • Side • Go Around • Spin Finish: Heels into position on his handler's left side. Side: Heels into position on his handler's right side. Go Around: Circles around his handler. Spin: Spins in a circle in place. Maui is also fully potty trained and kennel trained. ❤️ HIS LIFESTYLE MATTERS Maui has been with a person essentially at all times throughout his life. He was raised to be closely connected to his handler and to have a job. We would like to maintain that lifestyle for him. Maui is not a dog we want placed in a home where he will spend most of his day alone. His ideal home will appreciate having a dog who wants to be involved, work with his person, and remain close to his handler. 🩺 HEALTH & CARE Maui is: • Fully vaccinated • Regularly dewormed • Microchipped • On routine flea and tick prevention (topical/spot-on treatment) • Regularly examined by a veterinarian • Currently reported to have a clean bill of health • Free of known medical conditions • Not taking any medications • Has never had an injury • Not currently neutered Neutering is included as part of Maui's adoption fee. 🍽️ CURRENT DIET Maui currently eats Kirkland Signature Salmon & Sweet Potato dog food twice daily. His meals are supplemented with: • Solid Gold SeaMeal • Daily liquid glucosamine and chondroitin His current diet and routine can be discussed in greater detail with his new owner. 🎒 MAUI'S GEAR Maui will leave professionally groomed and equipped with his service-dog gear, including: • Service dog vest • Leash • Collar • Harness • Identification tags 💰 ADOPTION & TRAINING The adoption fee for Maui himself is $950. Please understand that Maui's professional training is separate from his adoption fee. The training fee and details of his continued service-dog training will be discussed with qualified prospective owners. Please research the typical costs associated with a service dog, as the training fees are in line with industry standards. We strongly encourage anyone interested in Maui to do their own research into the actual financial commitment, responsibilities, training requirements, and long-term costs associated with service-dog ownership. Maui has had substantial time, training, care, and investment put into him. We are looking for someone who understands the value of that foundation and is committed to continuing his development. 🏡 THE RIGHT HOME This is not simply about finding Maui a new owner. We are looking for the right person for Maui. Howard is a happy, affectionate Bobtail Bernard puppy who loves chilling out and cuddling with his people. He enjoys playing with other dogs occasionally, but mostly he loves spending time with people, and exploring the world around him with a mellow, laid back attitude. He is a friendly puppy who rarely seeks out attention from strangers, but enjoys being included by his family. Howard has been raised in a busy environment with other dogs, regular handling, early socialization, and exposure to a wide variety of sights, sounds, surfaces, and experiences. Like all of our puppies, Howard has been introduced to crate training, household routines, grooming, car rides, and basic manners. He is already potty trained and scratches at the door to come back in. He continues to win us over with those giant puppy dog eyes and cuddles. He would much rather cuddle, lay in the shade, play with toys and take it all in. Boulder is an absolutely massive, incredibly handsome boy with an amazing personality to match his size. He was the biggest puppy at birth, and he has continued to grow into one seriously impressive dog! He is super friendly, extremely smart, eager to learn, and wonderful with other dogs. Boulder has a confident personality and can be a little bossy and somewhat dominant with other dogs, but he is not aggressive or difficult. He simply has a big personality and likes to know what’s going on! Boulder loves people, enjoys being part of the action, and has all the qualities that make him such a fun companion. He is the kind of dog who gets noticed everywhere he goes... not just because of his enormous size, but because of his outgoing, happy personality. Boulder was originally considered for our service dog program because of his intelligence, temperament, size, and willingness to work, but his size isnt realistic for a disabled person to be able to care for. He is exceptionally smart, friendly, loving, and impressive dog. We simply believe he deserves a home where he can enjoy being an amazing companion rather than being asked to perform physically demanding mobility work for years. Boulder is looking for someone who will appreciate his giant size, giant personality, and giant heart.. and give him the opportunity to simply be a wonderful dog.  Boulder was 48lbs at 12 weeks. We expect he will be nearly 180lbs full grown.

I used to live out on a dirt road, but when times got tough, I did what any clever mama would do — I took my babies to a kind lady living in a fifth wheel in the desert. She shared her food with us, and that’s how our rescue journey began! I love playing with other dogs, hanging out with my people, and just being part of the fun. I’m crate trained because that’s where I get my meals (a girl’s gotta eat!).
