Story
If you want lots of love, I'm your guy! I am a fluffy, happy, playful and friendly guy. I love to be chased, play fetch, and go on walks and hikes. I aim to please my humans and I will always be by your side while you are at home. I am a loyal, gentle, cuddly guy who really just wants to be the goodest boy for his human. I would do best as an only dog so I could get all the love and attention from my humans. General Socialization Notes: I knows all basic cues (sit, down, off, leave it, come, stay). If I had to pick one cue to work on it would be stay. I am potty trained and never had any accidents inside the house. I am also crate trained and trained to sleep on my dog bed at night. I don't mind you trimming my nails, a few treats might help though! I love all the pets and belly scratches I can get. I walk well on a front clip harness but could use a little bit of training for reactivity to other dogs on walks and leash manners, in general. Does Bernard like other animals? I'd do best as an only dog. I really want all the love and attention from my humans. Does Bernard like children? I have been fine with children. Favorite Toys: I am a super chewer so I do best with natural rubber toys. My favorite treats are Simple 1 ingredient Salmon skins from Trader Joes. Ideal Forever Home: My ideal forever home would be somewhere where I am the only dog with a big back yard to run around, play fetch and be loved by my humans. I'd really enjoy an active family so I can go on lots of walks and hikes.

Story
Do you want a friend to both play and snuggle with? I'm your girl! I am both energetic and cuddly. I am always excited to meet a new friend and thrilled to join you for an afternoon of napping. I am both social with humans and dogs. I enjoy children, but can forget my size so older children may be best! General Socialization Notes: I am super smart and I love to learn! I'd love to train with my new family. I get very excited when meeting new people and I don't always realize my size. Does Paisley like other animals? I am a friend of all dogs, but my energy and size can scare some. I have never met a cat so I'm not too sure how I'd do. Does Paisley like children? I have spent the past 3 years loving on 3 grandchildren. I love to chase anything that runs so I may be a lot for smaller children. I'd need adults that can monitor and supervise. Favorite Toys: My favorite toy is a tug rope or a stuffed animal, especially with a squeaker. Ideal Forever Home: I would love a family that can appreciate my energy and my snuggles. I don't need a lot of exercise, but I do love social time either to play, walk, or visit a local store. I am super smart and can't wait to train!

Story
Barney was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. He is available to meet starting 2/14 Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  ##2651372##

Story
Babs is an absolute sweetheart at 18 months young. She came in after her owner decided her energy no longer matched his own. She is a pretty active girl that needs someone to continue to work on training with her. Her current foster mama says she is very sweet little tornado 🌪 💜. She weighs in around 110 lbs and still needs to be spayed and have her gastropexy before she is ready to be adopted out. However, she is available to meet. She does have some resource guarding we are working through when it comes to food, and she is still learning how to be polite on a leash.

Story
Hi there!  Mortimer here, checking in after arriving in Colorado! Im between 1 and 2 years old (no one ever told me my real birthday so the nice doctor at the vet's office took a guess) and the rescue people asked me to tell you a little bit about myself. I love tug of war!  I figured i would start with that since its really important that my new home like to play that with me.  I also like to play with other dogs, but can get a little scared if they are super loud and in my face at first.  I am "crate-trained" whatever that means, and enjoy these things called "leash walks" where i get to go out and smell and see new things.  My foster parents say that i have decent leash "manners". I've seen a cat a few times, and wasn't overly interested in it, but i have never lived with one, so I don't know how i would feel about that. I ended up in Colorado after someone dumped me in a very rural part of new Mexico.  A nice lady there found me and gave me food and water and shelter which was very nice, but she couldn't keep me so she found some nice people in Colorado to help me find a new forever home!  If i sound like the kind of dog you would like to hang out with fill out the application below and be sure to mention my name! If you are interested in fostering or adopting Mortimer, please fill out an adoption application at gotdrool.org

Story
Dixie and Latigo come to us after their human dad passed and Dixie started escaping the yard on a regular basis. Their human mom recognized that she could not keep them safe and asked us to help. We of course said YES! Things they will need in their new home – a yard with a 6 foot fence. Normally we don’t require fences, but for these two a 6 foot fence is an absolute MUST. They will still try to get over it, but won’t be able to. They are still learning the finer points of being inside dogs, but are doing really well so far! Dixie is definitely the leader with these two – she’s first to try new things and Latigo will follow her. They are also learning about leash manners – and so far are doing really well!
