She was found alone in the rain in rural Fresno County — injured, underweight, and trying to survive. She had suffered a traumatic loss of part of her back leg and was dangerously anemic, too weak at first for the surgery she needed. But with the help of Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, Poppy was given a chance. For two weeks, she healed in foster care, and through every moment of pain and uncertainty… she never stopped wagging her tail. On March 2nd, she finally had her life-saving surgery. And true to who she is, Poppy kept fighting — and kept choosing joy. Today, she’s healing beautifully. And the most amazing part? Poppy is pure happiness. She loves everyone she meets, greets the world with a wagging tail, and soaks up every bit of love she can. She enjoys short walks, rides great in the car, and is learning just how good life can be. As a young pup, she can be a little mouthy, so an adult only or older-child home would be best. She may also do well with cats with proper introductions. A single-story home will help her thrive as a Tripawd. She really enjoys having a dog friend and would love one who has a softer, balanced play style.  Poppy has been through more than we’ll ever fully know… and still, she chooses to trust, to love, and to be happy. Now all she needs is a family who will love her back — forever. Apply for Poppy at www.labrescuefresno.org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Thank you for opting to adopt!!    Adoption Fee: Puppies, (2 years of age and under) – $400.00 Adult Dog, (3 through 8 years of age) – $350.00 Senior Dogs (9 years and up) – $200.00 Special consideration may be granted for dogs with medical needs or bonded pairs.   April 6, 2026, 12:20 pm

Story
This pet is part of the rehoming program and is not in the care of the CCSPCA. Please read carefully and reach out to the owner directly via cell: 971-940-0988 or email: zoramey.pm@gmail.com The owner states, “Cali currently lives in a calm apartment environment with a single working adult. She is very social, affectionate, and friendly with people and other dogs. She enjoys playtime, outdoor walks, and being around her owner, but she is a high-energy dog who does best with consistent activity and structure. She has not shown aggression and has not bitten anyone. I am looking for a new home for Cali because her energy level and exercise needs are higher than what I can realistically provide long term in my current living and work situation. I want to make sure she is placed in a home that has the time, space, and activity level she needs to thrive. Cali would do best with an active household, a yard, or an owner who can provide regular exercise, enrichment, and engagement. She has not bitten anyone within the last 10 days.” Due to the pet not being in our care, it is out of our control when and if the owner responds to your inquiry.
