Meet Velma! Say hello to this adorable one-year-old Bernadoodle! Velma just arrived at AFRP and while we are still getting to know her, we have quickly learned some things about her. At about 43 pounds, she’s a happy, energetic girl who absolutely loves being around people. She really enjoys cuddles and attention - she will soak up any affection you are willing to give her! She arrived at AFRP with Shaggy, who we believe she is related to somehow (but not a littermate as they are not the same age) and she plays very well with him - maybe even a little too much for Shaggy's liking at times! This sweet girl has plenty of puppy energy and it appears she never really had basic training, so her new family should be ready to begin training and help her learn good manners. She’s not especially food-motivated, so her training may take a little creativity - but she’s very motivated by play, praise, attention and spending time with her favorite people! She loves playing with both humans and other dogs and will most likely thrive with an active family who wants a fun, affectionate companion to include in their adventures. And with that gorgeous Bernadoodle coat, regular professional grooming will be an important part of keeping her looking and feeling her best. We don't know much about her potty training habits yet, but her foster is beginning her with crate training and has already reported that she has been sleeping quietly through the night and doing well with going outside for her potty breaks. If you’re looking for a playful, cuddly, people-loving pup who is ready to learn and grow with her forever family, this girl could be the one! 🐾❤️ As Velma is new to AFRP, she is still waiting a few medical services, but we are accepting adoption applications to begin pre-screening applicants. For the pre-screening process, please note that we will ONLY be responding to applicants from Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties.

Meet Shaggy! This handsome three-year-old Bernadoodle is a mellow, affectionate guy who believes there’s no such thing as too much human attention - or too many cuddles! Shaggy just arrived at AFRP with Velma, who we believe may be his sister through some sort of relation (though not littermates). At about 57 pounds, he’s a big-hearted boy with an equally big love for his people. ❤️ While we is new to us, we have already learned some things about Shaggy. He’s a nice walking companion and does well on a leash, but he’ll benefit from basic obedience training to help him build confidence and learn some good manners. Since he’s not particularly food-motivated, his new family may need to get creative with training rewards - fortunately, this sweet boy is highly motivated by attention, affection, and spending time with people! His favorite place is right beside you, whether that means relaxing at your feet or snuggling up for some quality cuddle time. He’s looking for a family who will give him patience, guidance, and plenty of love as he settles into his new life. And that gorgeous Bernadoodle coat? It will require regular professional grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best.
