Story
“Doodle” is a presumed Poodle-mix, possibly with Giant Schnauzer. This sweet, friendly, happy boy is about one year old. He gets along with dogs and humans alike, and wants nothing more than to shower you with kisses. (He is learning some restraint in this regard, and also learning not to jump up to deliver said kisses! He learns quickly when you set a boundary.)Like the adolescent he is, he can become bored and start looking for things to do and chew; he doesn’t seem to have a lot of experience in homes and will benefit from the use of baby gates to limit him to puppy-proofed zones where he can’t steal your shoes or other items. He respects baby gates, though, and learns quickly. His foster provider reports that he did not have any accidents in the house (even overnight) but he should not be considered reliably house-trained quite yet. Treat him like the inexperienced youngsters he is and offer him opportunities to go out frequently, praising as he “goes” outdoors and soon that job will be completed. Given his recent past (picked up as a stray, in the shelter for the past month) and the way he quickly bonds with his caretakers, his foster provider suspects he has the potential for developing separation anxiety. His adopters should be prepared to put a separation anxiety prevention plan into place from the first day (we can provide you with literature that explains this).Mostly, this is a sweet, happy boy who is well mannered in the house. Given his lack of exposure in the wider world he can be timid around loud noises (such as a motorcycle or loud truck going by) but he rides happily and quietly in the car, loves to swim, and absolutely loves everyone he meets.July 15, 2026, 8:56 pm
