Story
It’s no mystery why Watson is so easy to love. His face is what scruffy dog dreams are made of! This little gentleman has the face for a Wes Anderson movie. Just picture him trotting faithfully beside the main character while quietly stealing every scene.
Watson is estimated to be around five years old, and from the moment you meet him, he is friendly, confident, gentle, and wonderfully easy to be around. Basically, if you’ve been investigating the case of “Where is the perfect medium-sized dog?” we have a very promising lead.
Go watch Watson on YouTube and see his scruffy sweetness for yourself! Between his sweet nature and perfectly tousled little face, the evidence is pretty compelling- it's love! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iva-nw4ZYKY
Watson has a lovely balance to his personality. He still has those happy little pockets of playfulness where he wants to bounce around, grab a toy, or have some fun with a dog friend, but at five-ish years old, he also appreciates the finer things in life- affection (aka a good scritchy-scratch), a good nap, and stretching himself across the couch once the day’s important business has concluded.
He is fantastic meeting other dogs and seems to read the room beautifully. If another dog wants to play, Watson is happy to join in. If they would rather simply coexist, he understands that too. He has been confident around dogs of different shapes and sizes without needing to make himself the center of their attention. He could happily share his home with another dog, but he certainly doesn’t require one. Watson LOVES toys and is perfectly capable of entertaining himself when nobody else feels like joining the fun.
His leash skills deserve their own paragraph because this scruffy little man can WALK. Watson naturally settles into a beautiful heel right beside you, making walks together feel easy and enjoyable. And if you happen to drop the leash? No worries. Watson has been known to gather it up in his mouth and continue along as though he has decided adult supervision is no longer necessary. Apparently, he can walk himself.
Watson also did wonderfully meeting our house cat. He has been nothing but comfortable and respectful sharing a house together, occasionally offering a little “bark bark” in the cat’s direction before carrying on with his day. It feels less like pestering and more like Watson attempting to open up a conversaiton. The cat has so far declined whatever he is suggesting but Watson accepts the ruling.
Mostly, Watson is just incredibly lovable. He has that wonderful grown-dog combination of still being playful and fun without being all go, all the time. He can enjoy dog friends, entertain himself with toys, head out for a lovely walk, soak up affection from his people, and then happily clock out for a serious couch nap.
As with all rescue dogs, Watson’s exact breed and birthday are our best guesses, but we estimate this scruffy sweetheart to be around five years old. Whatever combination created him, we’re smitten with the results.
The case is looking fairly open-and-shut- Watson is a very good boy, he is ready for a home, and we don’t expect a dog this charming to remain available for long. If that scruffy face has already gotten you, don’t spend too much time investigating. Apply to adopt Watson and come get your boy!
