Story
Meet Kogi, a 4-year-old neutered male Welsh Corgi with a charming tricolor coat of black, brown, and white, weighing in at a healthy 16kg. Kogi was brought into the city shelter at the end of December 2024. He was found wearing a leash and already knew basic commands like “sit” and “paw,” which, along with his friendly behavior toward strangers, strongly suggests he was once a beloved pet before being abandoned.   Kogi is a social butterfly when it comes to people. He happily approaches not only familiar faces but also strangers, leaning in for pets and belly rubs—even rolling over to show his tummy on first meetings! He’s equally affectionate with men and women and, although he hasn’t met any children under 13, we believe he’d do well with them. He’s even comfortable being picked up, letting you slip your arms under his belly to lift him.   With other dogs, Kogi prefers a more selective social circle. He won’t usually be the first to say hello or initiate play, but once he’s done a bit of sniffing around and finds a dog he clicks with, he plays with genuine enthusiasm. He tends to gravitate toward dogs similar in size and is also gentle with smaller pups. While he’s not a fan of big group hangouts, he enjoys bonding with a few close canine pals. Kogi does have a touch of jealousy—if he’s soaking up attention and another dog comes close, he might let out a growl, but he’s very responsive to human cues and stops right away when told.   We haven’t seen Kogi interact with cats yet, but a cat test can be arranged if needed.   Kogi’s energy level is moderate: he’s all in for outdoor fun but settles down nicely afterward for a good rest. He has lots of walking experience and generally follows his person well on walks, though he can pull on the leash a bit in excitement.   He doesn’t guard his food from people, but he might growl if another dog gets too close during mealtime. Kogi thrives on human companionship—he’s not extremely anxious when left alone, but he does want to be near you and might bark a little to ask for attention. He also makes some whiny sounds when crated and is comfortable doing his business both indoors and outdoors.   If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion with a sweet temperament and a dash of Corgi sass, Kogi might just be your perfect match!   Send in your application today through our website   https://adoptmekoreanrescue.org/adoption-application/   He can arrive at Vancouver or Toronto airport and may be able to arrive at some US airports (Seattle, LA, NY, Boston etc) where we have flight volunteers. Story
🐾 Note: Dalong is in a foster home in Oakville, ON. Background: Dalong was one of the lucky dogs rescued from an abandoned manufacturing building in Hanam, Korea, last spring. She lived as a stray with other dogs in the area until her rescue. Earlier this year, she moved to our boarding house in Korea, where she lived peacefully with other dogs until her departure. She’s now in a loving foster home in Oakville, ON. Personality and Socialization: Dalong is a sweet and gentle girl with a calm, medium energy level. Though initially a little shy, she warms up quickly to people and becomes incredibly affectionate. She loves everyone—men, women, seniors, and young people alike. With other dogs, Dalong is a bit cautious at first but gets along well once she’s comfortable. She thrives with calm, friendly, and gentle dogs but isn’t a fan of overly energetic or dominant personalities. Behaviours: Dalong walks well on a leash and stays close to her humans, making her an enjoyable walking companion. She is well-behaved in the car, remains calm during baths, and handles vet visits with ease. Indoors, she is quiet, well-mannered, and has shown no signs of destructive behavior. While she prefers to do her business outside, she is also comfortable using pee pads when necessary. Health and Diet: When rescued, Dalong was treated for heartworms and giardia. She has since completed her treatments and is now happy and healthy. She is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and on monthly parasite prevention. She eats kibble twice a day and has no known allergies. Ideal Home: Dalong would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time—whether a remote worker or a retiree. She would also love a friendly, gentle dog companion to keep her company. Easygoing and affectionate, Dalong is a joy to have around and will bring warmth and happiness to any home. If you’re looking for a loving, well-mannered, and gentle companion, Dalong might be the perfect match for you! Dalong is a Corgi and Jindo mix. Story
Note: Currently, Lupi is in a foster home in Toronto. 🐾 Background: Lupi and his mother, Luli, were rescued from a city pound in Hampyeong, Korea, just before they were scheduled for euthanasia last summer. After spending time in a different boarding house, they joined us in December to prepare for adoption. Lupi lived with other dogs at our boarding house until he left. Currently, he is in a foster home in Toronto. 🐾 Personality and Socialization: Lupi is a gentle and affectionate boy who starts off shy around strangers but warms up with time. Once he trusts someone, he becomes very sweet, snuggly, and loves smooches. He is more comfortable around women than men but continues to build confidence. Lupi loves playing with other dogs, especially those his size who are gentle and friendly. While he was once very attached to his mother, he has adjusted well to being around other dogs and is no longer dependent on her. 🐾 Behaviours: Lupi is smart, eager to learn, and well-behaved. He picks up on new routines quickly and has shown no destructive behaviors. He is comfortable in the car, at the vet, and during bath time. Though his leash experience is limited, he follows trusted handlers well and enjoys his walks. 🐾 Health and Diet: Lupi is healthy and fully vetted. He has received a clean bill of health from the vet and is up to date on all vaccinations. He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and has tested negative for parasites and heartworm. He also takes a monthly parasite preventative. Lupi eats dry kibble twice a day and has shown no allergies. 🐾 Ideal Home: Lupi would thrive in a home with another gentle and friendly dog to help guide him and boost his confidence. He would do best with experienced adopters who are patient and understanding. A quiet home in a relaxed environment would be ideal, especially with someone who enjoys a peaceful lifestyle. Since he is more comfortable around women, having at least one female family member would be beneficial. Lupi is such a loving and adorable boy who just needs time and patience to blossom. If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate companion to share your life with, Lupi could be the perfect match! She is a Corgi Jindo mix.
