Story
Woofy is an almost 2 year old, 35 lb (born July 4th, 2022) male Australian Shepherd mix seeking a forever home. He came to Marden’s Ark Dog Tales along with his brother Sonic when the owners’ lives changed and they felt that another home would be best for them. Woofy would love to be loved and in turn will guard your farm or help you do tasks and would love to be your best buddy. He is very intelligent, alert and easily trained. Already crate trained, he knows several commands..."come", " back", 'sit", "wait", "no", "yes/good boy", "kennel up' and 'go get it"...and presently working on "easy" and "stay close". Woofy is a little cautious at first when meeting new people since he hasn’t had a lot of world experience. He would do very well in a home with someone who can be patient while this smart boy figures it all out and bonds with his new family (no children under 12).  He will be a very loyal companion when given just a little time to adjust.  His brother was adopted and Woofy was a little sad at first but has adjusted. He would do best in a home with another dog that he can look to for confidence. Woofy has not had much socialization outside his current environment.  He needs a home where he can learn that new experiences are fun.  A professional dog trainer has assessed Woofy and feels that he would be a great dog given a little training and patience.  This trainer has agreed to donate eight 1 hour private training sessions (in person if in the Asheville area or by video conferencing if not) !   The foster/adopter should be available and willing to commit to 3 to 4,  5-10 minute training sessions per day on their own, plus a 1/2 hour walk once or twice daily or one 1/2 hour walk and 2, 15 minute walks. During the walks, they could work on hand targeting and recall exercises. The trainer also recommends puzzle toys, KONGS, LickiMats, etc... for added mental stimulation, as this boy is intelligent and high energy.   Woofy lives with cats and chickens and just wants to play with them.  He is basically still a puppy. Leash trained and crate trained. Woofy does very well with potty training in the house. Favorite things to do are running and playing with toys, getting treats, swimming & splashing in water, taking hikes, climbing new mountains, jumping for joy, finding things you may have lost, sitting and "talking" with you and taking short rides in the car to get treats and of course he loves meal times! Woofy is an energetic, very smart boy. He may do well in agility, nose work, or other fun activities. Woofy is near Asheville, NC.    A Meet & Greet can be done in Asheville or may can be arranged at a closer location for the right home. Woofy is up to date on vaccines and heartworm and flea preventative. He is also neutered. Adoption Fee: $300  If you are interested in adopting or fostering Woofy, please visit our website and fill out an adoption or foster application. https://www.doggierefuge.org/index.php/adoption-application/ https://www.doggierefuge.org/index.php/foster-application/

Story
We are looking for a BETTER place for our 2 year old Miniature Aussie- Saint. His behavior can be “ sporadic”  with people, children and other dogs.He is very smart and loves to play fetch with his favorite blue ball! Especially at grandmas house where he has a big fenced in back yard to run around lots( grandma has three little doggies which he seems to do fine with most of the time, he also has other doggies cousins that are larger breeds and has played fine with them). We are heartbroken to even have to be considering rehoming him but we feel his sporadic reactivity that sometimes turns into aggression is happening because he is in the wrong environment (city/ apartment living- makes it hard to take on walks because he reacts to people and other doggies randomly , young kids and our long work hours). We got a mini dachshund thinking it would help if he had a playmate but he tends to play rough with his brother at times as well.  He does tend to mind better with my husband over myself. I feel he would flourish with an owner who is familiar with the breed and can train with him. Also in an environment where there are no babies or young children, possibly only dog in the home, and where he has a big fenced in yard to run and play till he gets worn out.  He is neutered and crate trained . He is a wonderful and smart dog that we feel can flourish in the right environment &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 if interested please our website at STFFAR.org for a online application April 17, 2024, 11:18 am

Story
Sydney.....is very energetic, friendly, social, and intelligent! She would do well with activities like....hiking, running, walking, agility, etc. She would do well with children 10 and up and would love a doggie sibling to paly with . Adventure would be a good fit for her obedient and confident temperament. She does need daily exercise and mental stimulation. Because of her energy level, Sydney needs a fenced-in yard. After playtime, she settles in nicely for a nap. She is food/praise motivated and is a fast learner. Sydney already knows a few commands and is working on new ones. She would benefit and be very happy with ongoing training! Sydney loves to be near her people and is sweet and affectionate. Her play style is very...vigorous...so any other dogs in the home need to be ok with her puppy energy. Sydney needs a cat-free home. Sydney sleeps quietly in her crate at night after she settles in. She is also fully potty trained. She will do great with an active family who will continue her training! Fill out an application to meet this sweet, wiggly, smart, affectionate girl!
