Story
Merry Christmas from our "Eleventh Day of Christmas Dog"... Tygrys! Nice to meet you! My name is Tygrys, but everyone calls me Tyg! According to my kennel guy's free app, I'm mostly Anatolian Shepherd and Belgian Malinois! I am a big, handsome boy; just look at my pictures and see for yourself. I get a lot of attention both at the kennel and on field days when my guy takes me to the park and then Starbucks for my weekly pup cup! I came to GRRAND in 2019 as a cute little puppy and was quickly adopted by a sweet couple. Life was good, but my owners split up 4 yrs after taking me home and my mom went to live with a family member whose dogs didn’t like me so in June they drove me back to GRRAND from Wisconsin, so they could be sure nothing bad would happen to me. My GRRAND people are learning about my breed mix; I'm definitely NOT a Golden Retriever. I love to work and to protect my family. I constantly patrol the kennel fence line to make sure all the other pups and kennel volunteers are safe. I will bark at strangers or dogs I don't know. I'm not crazy about UPS, Amazon, or any van for that matter. I'm happy to be outside, but of course, I also love being indoors with my person. I'm extremely loyal. I love all my people at the kennel. I will try and squeeze my 105 lbs body on a chair with them for hugs and kisses. I let them dress me up and I never complain . I am very well trained and walk great on a leash (until that pesky UPS van goes by). I know a lot of commands and like showing off my skills. In the summer I loved my daily swim in the GRRAND pool! I tolerate most dogs and I'm buddies with Ross, who you would have met on Day One, but I really don't like to share my people, so I can't be in a home with other dogs. I'll let you into a secret; my kennel guy tells me that Penny (Day 12) and I are his favorites! I love him too, but it's time for me to leave the kennel. Like I said earlier, I'm not a Golden Retriever, but I really hope this Christmas just the right family is out there looking for a big loveable, protective pup like me. GRRAND trainers have promised me that they will educate the right family on how to handle a breed like mine. Merry Christmas, Love Tyg XOXO Tygrys is a 4 year old, 100lb, Great Pyrenees-Anatolian Shep mix. This handsome guy was adopted from GRRAND when he was saved from a kill shelter at 3 months old, and his family has had some life changes that have sadly resulted in them making the hard decision to turn him back into GRRAND.  We are told by his current owner's, that he is a sweet boy, is house-trained and seems to have the Guardian Dog protecting the house tendencies, as at night he likes to roam from room to room to keep watch and make sure everything is ok. They say he gets along with other dogs, but has had some issues with some other dogs he used to live with who didn't accept him in the pack so he is seemingly dog selective. He was out in the play yard with Cookie and Noelle at the kennel and they all had a good time together! He is new to a foster home and his foster parents used a few adjectives: "loyal, sweet, attentive, protector, wants to please, has serious side of his personality but does relax".  They are also doing all they can to get him out to socialize and walk him, and we will update as they tell us more! This is what the kennel staff says about Tig "We love him at the kennel! He has been well-trained and walks perfectly. He loves to lay out in the play yard, watch over the kennel, and play in the pool. When he comes into the office he will curl up in one of the beds and rest; you don't even know he's there. The kennel manager has taken him on field trips to the park and a brewery, and reported that he's perfect! He is so handsome and gets a lot of attention, which he laps up! He was out in the play yard with Cookie and Noelle and they all had a good time together!  Tig does need a yard to play in and we've learned that once he gets to know his person he will protect them, even against other dogs, so even though he can be around other dogs outside, he needs to be the only dog in the home". Baxter and Rogan are 1 year old, SUPER HANDSOME, Bernadoodle littermates we would really like to place as a pair! They were pulled from a shelter by a Pit Bull Rescue as they saw these guys and  could not say no... so they then contacted GRRAND. They are Floofy fun loving boys looking for a fun loving family that can give them the copious amounts of exercise and direction they need to be good pups! They ARE still puppies, and a tired pup is a good pup! One of our volunteers who met these guys said "They are big and beautiful- very playful and just love wrestling with each other! They are going to make one lucky family an awesome pair of family dogs"! We are still learning about these silly guys, but if you would like to meet them, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##2036091##
