Story
Starling’s story is heartbreaking, but this girl has made one incredible comeback. 💙 Starling was taken into local animal control as evidence in a neglect case after she was found abandoned in a cage on the porch of a trailer when her owner moved away. She was severely emaciated, had maggots on her hind legs, painful urine scalding on her feet, and a severe bacterial and yeast ear infection. Because she was under a legal hold, Starling could have spent weeks or even months confined at animal control while her case was resolved. Instead, Thistle Cat was entrusted with her care so she could recover in a safe, comfortable environment. We are so happy to say that Starling has now overcome all of her medical issues, her legal hold has officially ended, and she is finally available for adoption. 🐾 This gorgeous lilac point Siamese girl with striking blue eyes is about as affectionate as they come. Starling loves sitting in laps, curling up beside her people on the couch, snuggling next to you in bed, and rubbing her cheeks all over you to make sure you know you belong to her. She gets along wonderfully with the other cats and kittens at Thistle Cat and will need a home with another playful cat or dog. She would also be a perfect candidate to adopt alongside another Thistle Cat kitten. Starling has already survived the part of her story she never should have had to endure. Now she is ready for the part she deserves: a safe, loving forever home where she will never be left behind again. 💙🐱

Story
Sloane is an incredibly gentle, sensitive girl who has already been through more change than she ever deserved. 💙 She was found roaming alone in a local park and brought to animal control by a concerned citizen. Unfortunately, for many cats, animal control can become a race against time simply because shelters run out of space. When we took Sloane in, we were told she was male and originally named her Ruben. She was understandably reactive and overwhelmed, so we gave her plenty of space to decompress. Her scheduled neuter day came quickly, and that was when we discovered two surprises: Sloane was actually female, and she had already been spayed. Because there was no visible tattoo or obvious scar to indicate a previous spay, she underwent an unnecessary exploratory surgery before this was discovered. When she came home, she was shaken up and stopped eating. With time, patience, and very gentle affection, she slowly began to relax. After quarantine, we moved her from her cage into a quiet bedroom of her own with a window overlooking the garden. Even that positive change was difficult for her. She stopped eating again for several days while she adjusted. Sloane feels everything deeply. We believe she may be an older cat and possibly someone’s former pet. After about a month with Thistle Cat, she still prefers the safety of her bedroom and favorite window perch. She accepts gentle pets and enjoys attention, but she is not yet a cat who comes looking for it. Yet. 💙 We believe this beautiful blue-eyed girl could blossom into a loving, devoted companion in the right environment. Sloane needs a very quiet home without children and with few, if any, other animals. She may be especially well suited for an older adopter or someone who understands that trust does not always happen overnight. We will be very careful when choosing Sloane’s family because change is particularly difficult for her. She does not need someone who expects her to adjust on a schedule. She needs someone willing to let her feel safe first. If you think you could be that person for Sloane, we would love to hear from you. 🐾
