Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 11/14/25 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Lime is neutered, up to date on core vaccines (rabies, distemper/parvo and Bordetella) and is heartworm tested, negative and on preventatives.  He is also microchipped.  Lime was a double cryptorchid meaning both his testicles were inside his body.  This was corrected through neuter surgery.  He had a sore on his face, unsure why but it has healed completely.  He may have gotten stuck on something.  His previous owner noted it when giving him to us but did not know how the injury occurred and once it was cleaned and he was on antibiotics for a few days, it cleared right up.  He also had 4 retained baby teeth removed.  Lime was also diagnosed with ear mites.  We are treating this now and he will be continuing treatment through the end of December.  He can be adopted by an owner who commits to continuing the treatment.   Weight: 7 lbs - may hit 9 lbs before he becomes full grown Height: 8 in at the shoulder now and I think will gain another 1/2" inch..maybe Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No although he would enjoy several outside off leash play times regularly. Lime has no experience walking on a leash currently, but he is young and eager to learn all the things to make you happy.  He can learn this skill.   What kind of home would be best for me? Lime is a playful, affectionate puppy looking for his very first (and we hope his furever) home of his own. So far in his short life, his life has been full of dogs, and we think he would enjoy a canine companion. However, for a home that is committed to play dates (doggie day care, training classes or meet up with friends with other small dogs) a minimum of 3 times per week and to a person who is home more than they are away, we think Lime would thrive. Lime is a very quiet little boy.  He could do well with shared walls (apartments, town home) or in a single-family home. He is tiny and has no experience at all with children so older (over 10), considerate small dog savvy children only please.  What is my personality like? Bubbly and affectionate. Lime loves life and is ready to learn and go and do and see and become a human's bestest buddy. Lime (Key Lime Pie, Limey boy, Kiwi kid - he has a lot of nicknames) has never really enjoyed a life with laps and couch time.  He has been a kennel dog his entire short 7 months on earth.  He is eager to learn something different.   When you try to pick Lime up, he flattens, belly crawls a few feet and then he will be still so you can pick him up. We think it's learned behavior and with time and life experience, he will grow up to stand tall.   Have you ever seen markings quite so striking.  He looks like he is wearing a raccoon mask of creamy caramel around his eyes and over his ears.  Maybe we should have named him Ricky R! Bottom line - Lime is a work in progress and a beautiful one. He is still very much a puppy and needs a loving owner to teach him how to be a perfect poodle pet.  How do I act when I first meet new people? A bit timid - he has not met a lot of people in his short life.  He will get better. When you do get him in your arms, he's all about being loved.   Other tips and tidbits:  Lime's birthday is 04/13/25. Lime came from a breeder and while we do not have his registration papers, we believe he is a purebred toy poodle. He does not shed and appears to be hypoallergenic.   House trained?  Lime is currently crate trained (he sleeps in his crate with two foster sibling sisters right now)  He is allowed access to pee pads but is also encouraged to go outside.  He still squats to pee.  Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. December 5, 2025, 4:59 pm

Lemon is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 12/4/25 he had a dental polishing and deep ear cleaning. Lemon has been treated for hookworms and giardia.  Weight: 9.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Because of his sensitive nature, Lemon would thrive best in a calm, adults-only home. He needs humans who understand that he should never be scooped up or petted without his consent. Sudden movements, loud noises, or fast-paced environments can be stressful for him, so a steady, predictable home is essential for Lemon to feel confident and secure. Lemon finds comfort in the company of other dogs, especially calm, confident companions. Their presence helps him navigate the world and feel braver than he might on his own. For this reason, Lemon needs another well-adjusted dog in the home. If you are considering adopting Lemon - a puppy mill survivor - please read this important article before you submit an application: https://bestfriends.org/pet-care-resources/what-expect-when-rescuing-puppy-mill-dog What is my personality like? Meet Lemon, a Toy Poodle with a gentle heart and a shy, sensitive soul. Lemon loves to run, explore, and enjoy the sunshine - but he only does so when he feels safe and confident in his surroundings. Once he does, he shows just how sweet and affectionate he can be, quietly soaking up attention from the people he trusts. Lemon is still learning what it means to be a pet and will need time to adjust to a new home, routines, and rules. With patience and gentle guidance, he will gradually come to understand and embrace the joys of family life. Lemon may take his time, but the bond he forms is deep and lasting. With a quiet, patient household and a companion he trusts, he will blossom into a loving, playful, and devoted Toy Poodle who cherishes every moment by your side. How do I act when I first meet new people? Lemon isn’t the type to jump into new situations right away. Instead, he takes his time to observe, adjust, and decide when he’s ready to engage.  Other tips and tidbits: Lemon's birthday is 10/22/24 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Brindle is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 10 lbs Height: 6in at shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No - but she would love one! What kind of home would be best for me? Brindle is easy to accommodate in a variety of living situations. Whether you live in an apartment, townhome, or standalone home, she will fit right in. She’s adaptable, gentle, and simply wants a place where she can feel safe and loved. Brindle gets along beautifully with other dogs and enjoys their company, but she’s equally happy soaking up all the love in a home where she’s the solo star. Her priority isn’t the number of dogs around her - it’s the amount of warmth, comfort, and affection she gets to share. Like many dogs starting fresh, Brindle will need guidance on the basics. She’s still learning general house manners, daily routines, and what’s expected of her in a home environment. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, she’ll blossom into a wonderfully mannered companion. She truly thrives when she feels supported and included. What is my personality like? Brindle is the cuddle companion you've always dreamed of. This girl absolutely adores people. If she could spend every moment curled up in your arms or leaning into your side, she would. Affection is her love language, and she gives it just as enthusiastically as she receives it. Brindle is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds with her people. She’s happiest when she’s included, whether that’s lounging on the couch while you watch a movie, following you from room to room, or curling up at your feet while you work. She doesn’t need grand adventures -she just needs you. At the end of the day, Brindle is looking for someone who wants a loyal shadow, a cuddle buddy, and a constant source of sweetness. She’s ready to be your steady friend, your comfort, and your partner through every moment — big or small. How do I act when I first meet new people? Brindle is a sweet girl who enjoys meeting new friends. Other tips and tidbits: Brindle's birthday is 10/22/24 House trained? What kind of home would be best for me?  Because her previous life didn’t include much structure, Sugar will need patience and consistent guidance when it comes to basic training, house manners, and learning your daily routine. She’s eager to please and wants nothing more than to be close, so with a gentle, steady hand she’ll pick things up wonderfully.  Sugar is wonderfully adaptable and would do great in just about any home setting—standalone home, apartment, or townhome. As long as she has her people (and maybe a dog friend too), she’s content. If you are considering adopting Sugar - a dog raised in a breeding facility - please read this important article before you submit an application: https://bestfriends.org/pet-care-resources/what-expect-when-rescuing-puppy-mill-dog What is my personality like?  Sugar is the cuddle bug of your dreams - a real-life teddy bear wrapped in soft fur and pure sweetness. She would be perfectly happy in a home with or without a canine companion. Sugar is simply a social girl who thrives around love—whether it comes from humans or fellow pups. If you’re looking for a snuggly, affectionate little friend who wants nothing more than to love and be loved, Sugar is waiting with open paws. Valkyrie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 10/01/2025 she had a dental with 6 extractions. Val is under-socialized. She is working hard on learning in her foster home, but it is a work in progress.  Weight: 8 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 - This adoption fee is increasing effective 11/01/2025 Fence needed? Yes. Val is a flight risk. She requires the safety of a physically fenced yard, without exception. What kind of home would be best for me? Valkyrie (or Val as her foster mom calls her) is looking for a peaceful, patient home where she can be socialized and learn how to be a dog. A home with children, loud noises or frequent activity will not work for Val. She needs time, space and understanding to continue to blossom and become more confident. Val will only be adopted to a home that is experienced with rescue, ideally rescuing and rehabilitating a dog that was part of a puppy mill. One thing that is absolutely essential for Val is another confident, friendly dog in the home. She gains reassurance and courage from canine companionship and learns by watching her dog friends. A calm, steady role model who can show her that the world isn’t so scary — that loud noises, new people, and changes can all “roll off like water” — will help her continue to grow and thrive. If you are considering adopting Val - a dog raised in a breeding facility - please read this important article before you submit an application: https://bestfriends.org/pet-care-resources/what-expect-when-rescuing-puppy-mill-dog What is my personality like? Val is a beautiful Toy Poodle whose eyes tell a story of cautiousness. As a recent breeder release, many things in the big, wide world are still new to her - including learning to love and trust humans. In foster, she is slowly beginning to learn that life as a loved companion can be safe and kind.  Val is ready to start her new chapter with someone who sees her for who she is- a gentle soul with so much love to give, waiting for the right person (and canine friend) to help her continue her journey. You will have to go slow with Val. It will take time. You will teach her everything.  If you have the patience to let her set the pace, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most heartfelt connections imaginable. How do I act when I first meet new people? Val is shy and skittish.  Other tips and tidbits: Valkyrie's birthday is 03/23/2021 House trained? Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Pluto is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 08/20/25 Pluto had a dental polishing and had a hematoma repaired on his ear. Pluto has been treated for hookworms. Weight: 7.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Unknown Adoption Fee: $499 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? What Pluto is looking for is peace and quiet — a calm, loving home with someone who sees and respects his sensitivity. Once he feels secure, you’ll find a loyal little companion who expresses affection in subtle, meaningful ways: sitting nearby, following you from room to room, or curling up in a cozy spot just to be close. Pluto isn’t a good fit for a home with children or a lot of visitors. He’s not the dog who wants to be scooped up, dressed up, or fussed over before he’s ready. While he doesn’t absolutely need another dog in his forever home, having a calm, mature canine companion would be a comfort to Pluto. He’s not looking for a playmate or a puppy — just another steady presence who’s content to nap nearby or quietly share space.  When it comes to people, Pluto is particular — and that’s just who he is. He’s shown time and again that he prefers women and feels more relaxed, open, and trusting in their company. With men, Pluto is hesitant at best and wary at worst. It’s possible he may never fully warm up to the idea of having a “dad” in his life, and that’s okay. What he needs is someone who can accept him exactly as he is, without trying to force him into situations that make him uncomfortable. Pluto isn’t suited for a home with children, frequent visitors, or a lot of social bustle. He’s not the type of dog who wants to be fussed over, scooped up, or expected to charm every new face he meets. If you are considering adopting Pluto - a dog raised in a breeding facility - please read this important article before you submit an application: https://bestfriends.org/pet-care-resources/what-expect-when-rescuing-puppy-mill-dog What is my personality like? Like his name suggests, Pluto may be small — but his personality is truly out of this world. This tiny Mini Poodle is a sensitive soul who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and gentle place. But Pluto doesn’t rush for anyone. He absolutely needs time — time to observe, time to decide how he feels, and time to build trust on his own terms. Pluto has made wonderful progress here at the farm, especially with the help of other dogs who make him feel comfortable and secure. Pluto has strong opinions about who belongs in his world. If he decides he doesn’t like someone, he means it — and that feeling may never change. He’ll make that boundary clear, usually with some barking or avoidance, and it’s important that his people respect that.  Pluto isn’t a dog you “win over” with treats or tricks. He’s a dog you earn — slowly, gently, with patience and respect. And once you do, he’ll be your steadfast companion, small in size but enormous in heart. For the right person — most likely a woman who understands his language and honors his boundaries — Pluto will be a loyal friend for life. How do I act when I first meet new people? Meeting Pluto will go one of two ways. If he deems you worthy, he'll offer a sniff and a steady eye. If he doesn't, he will bark to make his boundaries clear. He's a picky boy and we're here for it! Other tips and tidbits: Pluto's birthday is 10/16/2021 House trained? November 12, 2025, 2:54 pm
