Anyhow, these nice humans taking care of me here at the Stover rescue told me I am available for adoption to a good family. That is super exciting, I can hardly believe it! When I first came here I was really hungry and a little bit scared but the nice people here at the rescue fed and loved me back to my whole self and have told me that my furever family is now waiting somewhere out there for me! I was so happy to hear about you, that you are looking for me because guess what?? I have always wanted a family of my own and wow, for you to actually be reading this, that just makes my tail wag extra fast! I was super excited to have my pictures taken for you, I really hope you like them. I smiled my bestest good boy smile! Information: Ruger was brought to the shelter as a stray so little is known about him at this time. He is your typical hound dog and not a fan of being copped up in the shelter. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard and room to be a hound. He probably wouldn't be suitable for apartment or condo living where there is a shared roof as he does seem to be a barker, which is also a hound thing. The Treeing Walker Coonhound is an energetic, intelligent, and friendly American scent hound known for its exceptional hunting skills, particularly for treed raccoons, boasting a distinctive baying voice and a tri-color coat. They are affectionate and calm at home but require significant daily exercise and consistent, positive training, thriving in active families who can meet their high energy and mental stimulation needs, with a lifespan of about 12-13 years. The shelter provides a 5-day health guarantee for adopted animals. This includes health conditions not present or known about by the shelter at the of adoption, which adopter becomes aware of within 5 days. Injuries or accidents that occur at the adopter's home are not covered. The shelter is not responsible for incurred costs from local veterinarians due to non-compliance. ALL adoptions are final! Animals can be returned to the shelter for any reason, however, there are NO refunds or exchanges.

Story
Ollie's a little over a year old. She's sweet with kids, cats, and dogs. We originally took her in as a rescue a year ago in hopes she'd be a good companion for working dog. She was. However, Ollie began killing our chickens and wondering off to a major highway. We realized she's a great dog, just not for our farm. 8 months ago, we re-homed her with a family and asked them to remover her tag (that contained our contact info) once they purchased a new tag. Yesterday, I received a call from someone who found Ollie on Hwy 65. She called because my contact info was still on the tag. I've made multiple attempts to contact Ollie's owner, and so did the person who found her. Each attempt was sent to voicemail. When we re-homed Ollie, we let the new family know that this needed to be a permanent arrangement. Additionally, we let them know that our farm requires two dogs we were going to replace Ollie with a healer (the same breed we've worked with for years), which we have done.
