Story
Meet Freddy, a wise and gentle soul seeking a peaceful haven to spend his golden years. He came in with numerous other cats, all very skinny and malnourished. They were also riddled with concerning worms. Freddy is doing so much better after getting deworming treatments and proper food. Adopters may need to be prepared to administer extra deworming treatments if needed. At the ripe age of 10, Freddy carries himself with warmth and a heart as big as his purr. Freddy radiates affection, cherishing every moment spent in the company of his human companions. Though he may move a bit slower than in his youth, his spirit remains as lively as ever, with a twinkle in his eyes that speaks of a lifetime of love yet to give. Freddy longs for a quiet home where he can bask in the sunbeams and nap in cozy corners, content in the knowledge that he is cherished and adored. He may like to hide a bit at first in a new environment until he feels more comfortable. Adopting Freddy means welcoming not just a cat, but a cherished friend who promises to fill your days with companionship, comfort, and endless love.**Freddy is currently awaiting dental surgery and is not ready to go home - but foster-to-adopt may be an option for local adopters while he is awaiting his surgery. Story
Meet Foxy, the epitome of feline charm and grace, eagerly waiting to find her forever home. She arrived in the shelter starving, very underweight, and accompanied by a large number of feline companions in equally bad shape. They were diagnosed with a number of parasites but are now doing so much better after getting treatments and proper food. Adopters may need to be prepared to administer additional deworming treatments if needed. Shy and reserved, Foxy is a quiet observer, cautiously navigating the world around her. Though initially timid, once she warms up to you, Foxy reveals a treasure trove of affection and loyalty. With patience and understanding, she blossoms into a devoted companion, seeking solace in gentle pets and quiet moments by your side. Foxy's quiet presence brings a sense of calm and serenity to any home, offering a soothing balm to the stresses of everyday life. For those who appreciate the beauty of understated companionship, Foxy is the perfect addition to your family. A home without young children would probably be best but she likely could live with cats and dogs with proper, slow introductions. Come meet this sweet soul and experience the profound bond that awaits with a shy but loving cat like Foxy.**FOXY IS CURRENTLY AWAITING A DENTAL SURGERY TO REMOVE A BROKEN TOOTH SO SHE IS NOT ABLE TO BE ADOPTED JUST YET. LOCAL POTENTIAL ADOPTERS MAY HAVE THE OFFER TO FOSTER TO ADOPT WHILE SHE IS AWAITING HER SURGERY. ASK STAFF FOR MORE INFO. Can you offer this sweetie the fur-ever home he is searching for? Story
Meet Rocket, the handsome floofy boy with the big personality, who is ready to find his fur-ever home! This very friendly feline is eager to shower his new family with affection and entertain with his energetic antics. Rocket's outgoing and playful spirit make him the perfect companion for anyone seeking a fluffy friend. He loves attention, cuddles, and being brushed, but also zooming around his room playing with his toys. If you're ready to open your heart to a sweet and sociable cat, Rocket is the one for you. Adopt Rocket today and let the love and cuddles begin! We don't know much about this man of mystery's history as he came in to the SPCA as a stray. We know he has been around other cats but we don't know how he would feel about sharing his home with a dog, small animal, or children. With proper slow introductions we think Rocket could probably be fine with animals and kids as he seems to get along with most anyone, though he may be a bit too rambunctious for really small children. When Rocket came to the SPCA he was suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection which was quite persistent. After multiple rounds of antibiotics his symptoms (sneezing, congestion, nasal discharge) have finally cleared up. Adopters will need to be prepared, however, for the possibility that he may be prone to URI as he could now be a carrier for Calicivirus (a virus causing URI and contagious to other cats). We recommend Rocket either be the only cat in the home or make sure that other cats are either already exposed to calici or kept up to date on vaccines. Rocket needs to be an indoor only cat as well. An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.Do you think you could be Rocket's person? Here are some ways to find out:1. Visit our centre to meet this pet, learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person; or2. Submit an online application https://spca.bc.ca/survey/cat-adoption-application-kamloops and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit!
