Story
Blind/Visual ImpairmentDOB: 1/21/2023 Meet Prize, a sweet and gentle boy who happens to be visually impaired but full of love! Prize came to us from a hoarding situation, and while we may never know what his life looked like before arriving to Colony Cats, we do know his future will be filled with the safety and love he always deserved. Despite his visual impairment, Prize adapts well once he learns his surroundings and enjoys calmly exploring before settling in for a cozy nap nearby. He prefers relaxing over playing, but he absolutely loves attention… start petting or brushing him and his purr motor turns on right away. He’s also wonderfully easygoing, unfazed by everyday household noises, and very food motivated (and not picky!). Because of his visual impairment, Prize will need a safe, cat proofed home and a patient adopter willing to help him learn his space. In the right home, this docile and affectionate boy will thrive, spending his days soaking up attention and sharing endless purrs.  His world may look a little different, but he loves it and the people in it! Could Prize be the furrever gift you’ve been looking for? **This cat is currently in a foster home and arrangements can be made for a meeting once you have applied with us. Story
FELV+ FIV+DOB: 3/25/2024 One of the biggest misconceptions about feline leukemia, which suppresses a cat’s immune system, is that it is an automatic death sentence. There are many variables, however, that come into play that determine how FeLV will affect a particular cat.  To learn more about this condition visit:  https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/feline-leukemia-felv-faqs Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive cats can live normal lives both in quality and duration. They do take special care in terms of monitoring them for signs of infection.  FIV can be passed from cat to cat via deep bite wounds, but not from casual contact so positive cats can live with negative cats without the fear of spreading FIV as long as they get along and are spayed/neutered.
