Story
At approximately 3 years old, Piglet is a handsome Vizsla cross with the most adorable little twist — his tail curls like a tiny piglet, which is exactly how he earned his name! And when he bravely takes a step forward or masters something new, you can’t help but smile and say, “that’ll do pig, that’ll do.”
Piglet is a timid young dog who is becoming more comfortable day by day. He wants to connect — he just needs thoughtful introductions. When people approach him with patience and consideration, he’ll quietly come forward to say hello. However, fast or invasive handling can make him uncomfortable, and he will give clear signals when he needs space.
Because of this, Piglet would thrive in an adult-only home that can offer patience, a calm, predictable structure, respect for his boundaries and space to decompress. With the right environment, you’ll truly see him begin to blossom.
Piglet is incredibly clever and very food motivated — which makes training both fun and rewarding! He already knows sit, shake, catch and he can learn new cues in seconds, especially when tasty treats are involved. Continued positive reinforcement training will not only help build his confidence but also strengthen the bond with his future person. He’s the kind of dog who wants to learn — he just needs someone to guide him.
As a young, active dog, Piglet will need plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation to keep him happy and healthy. Enrichment games, scent work, structured walks, and training sessions will suit him perfectly. He’ll also need an adopter who can advocate for him — ensuring he gets appropriate socialization experiences at his own pace.
When meeting another dog at the shelter, he was fairly indifferent. He may do well with a calm, respectful canine companion who understands personal space — but he’d also be content as the only dog soaking up your support.
Piglet is a shy but deeply promising young dog with so much potential. He’s smart, sensitive, food-loving, and ready to build trust with someone who sees the beauty in a gentle soul. With patience and kindness, Piglet will grow into a devoted and wonderful companion.
If you believe in giving quiet dogs the time they deserve, Piglet just might be your perfect match. Please complete an adoption application:

Piglet has an appointment to be neutered on March 10th. He will be ready to go to his forever home after this surgery.
Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families.
