PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 11/26/25 Sandy This good little girl was found as a stray, alone and starving. Thankfully, a good Samaritan took action and she is now safe, fully vetted, and ready for a home! Sandy is about 6 months old and weighs about 30 lbs. We believe she is a Vizsla mix and will probably be around 50-60 lbs once fully mature. She walks very well on leash, and is working on house training. She is medium energy level and gets along great with other dogs and would do very well with kids. She has a gentle, sweet spirit. Sandy is located in Arkansas. She can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them in PA, NY, or CT on Saturdays. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Current Location: Strasburg, VA Hello, my name is Dottie! I'm thought to be a Pointer mix, about 2 years old and currently weigh about 40 pounds. I'm a submissive gal with a sweet temperament and do very well with the people and dogs I've met. I love, love, love to snuggle and like nothing better than to sit next to my people and get lots of attention and hugs. I'm also house trained and walk well on the leash. I just weaned my litter of pups and will be spayed on 12/1. I'm heartworm positive and will receive treatment on 12/15 and can go home with my new family in time to celebrate the new year. I am microchipped, current on my vaccines and monthly preventives, and will be spayed and have received heartworm treatment prior to adoption. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable.
