Story
Lucy is a 1 1/2 year old spayed female Weimaraner mix, fully vetted, heartworm negative and microchipped, house trained. She is good with kids, dogs (& cat with supervision). Current owner’s pit is aggressive with Lucy, and they feel it’s  better to rehome her. Adoption fee $125. Comments from current owner: “We adopted Lucy from Mobile County Shelter approx 4 months ago. She had been bred and had puppies while in the shelter. She’s hyper, like a normal puppy. The reason we are rehoming is because she and my pit don’t get along very well, they break out into fights. I have children. I definitely believe it’s my pit and not her, because she plays well with other dogs around. Also, she jumps on my little ones, so maybe no small kids. She needs a lot of training and work we just don’t have time for. We have 3 children and I am a full time student also.  She’s okay with feeding  from what I can tell. My pit is aggressive when feeding. So I have to feed them separately.  She has been around a cat. She won’t mess with the cat if you are there to remind her. We really don’t want to surrender her back to the shelter.” September 5, 2025, 1:35 am

Story
Millie was picked up as a stray and had been at a local overcrowded shelter for three months. She is a 55 pound German shorthaired pointer mix which makes her have a unique appearance and lively personality. Millie is a larger dog with a sleek, muscular build typical of Pointers. She has a short, shiny coat that is mostly white with black patches. Her expressive brown eyes and floppy ears give her an endearing and approachable look. Millie is known for her playful and energetic nature. She loves to run and play. One of Millie’s most notable traits is her impressive fence-climbing ability. This talent first became apparent when she came to her foster home. Curious about the world beyond her yard, Millie will climb over the fence to explore the neighborhood. Her escapades led to many amusing incidents, such as surprising the neighbors by appearing in their yards. Millie will require a 6 foot fence to manage her adventurous spirit. Millie's daily routine includes morning runs, playtime at the dog park, and engaging activities like puzzle toys and obedience training. Despite her adventurous nature, Millie is well-behaved at home. She enjoys lounging in her favorite spot by the window, watching the world go by, and greeting visitors with enthusiastic tail wags. Millie is low heartworm positive and is on slow kill monthly prevention. Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets (FJCASP) is a foster-based rescue for dogs and cats.
