Story
Kirby is a 4-year-old Weimaraner mix who weighs 61 pounds, and he’s as goofy and fun-loving as they come! This active boy is always up for a good time—whether it’s running around the yard or chasing after his favorite tennis balls. With his big personality and playful energy, Kirby is sure to keep you smiling.Kirby can be a little jumpy and excitable, especially when he’s feeling uncertain, but once he’s comfortable, his friendly, affectionate nature really shines through. Because of this, he’d do best in a home with kids ages 10 and up who can appreciate both his silly antics and his need for a little patience. When it comes to other dogs, Kirby can be forward, so he would thrive as the only dog in the home where he can soak up all the love and attention. With a family who’s ready to embrace his playful side while helping him feel secure, Kirby is sure to blossom into a loyal and loving companion.Come meet Kirby at the Humane Society of Summit County, 752 West Portage Trail, Akron, OH 44313, or call us at 330-487-0333 ext. 803 to learn more!

Story
Toffee is a 3.5–4-month-old, 20lb puppy, who’s all legs, sweetness, and curiosity. She’s a fun, gentle girl with a naturally shy side, but her confidence grows more each day as she learns about the world around her. She’s currently thriving in a busy foster home with two female resident dogs, three cats, and two teenagers ... she’s handling the everyday chaos beautifully. Toffee is doing great with both house-training and crate-training, and she absolutely loves playing with other dogs. Because Toffee takes cues from confident pups, she will do best in a home with a friendly, well-adjusted dog companion who can help show her the ropes. She’s still learning polite manners with cats (she’s more playful than they prefer), but she’s eager to please and making steady progress with guidance. Toffee is a loving, thoughtful puppy who will blossom in a patient home that can continue building her confidence and helping her shine. Story
Smokey is a 67-pound Catahoula/Husky mix with movie-star good looks and a heart of gold. Turning 5 years old on Saint Patrick’s Day (talk about a lucky charm!), this handsome guy sports one striking blue eye and one warm brown eye — he’s basically born to stand out. Smokey came to our shelter with his son Cannon when their previous owner had to move and could not take them along. Smokey carries himself with a calm, steady confidence. He has a medium energy level, meaning he’s just as happy going for a nice walk as he is relaxing by your side after a long day. His beautiful grey and white coat matches his gentle, loyal nature perfectly.Smokey loves kids, gets along well with other dogs, and according to his previous owner, is both housetrained and crate trained. He’s already neutered and ready to bring stability, devotion, and a whole lot of heart into his forever home.Smokey is available through our foster-to-adopt program, which allows you to welcome him into your home while he completes his veterinary care which includes vaccinations, microchipping, and heartworm testing. If you’re willing to open your home and your heart to Smokey, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and submit an online dog adoption application for Smokey. His adoption fee is $160.Smokey isn’t just looking for a family — he’s looking for one lucky enough to love him (and his favorite sidekick) forever.
