Story
Dixie is a purebred female brittany, approximately 3 years old, who is looking for her forever home. She weighs about 36 pounds, and is a total sweetheart and very smart. Dixie was surrendered to a shelter, due to her former owner not having time for her. She was previously a hunting dog, but it appears she may be gun shy. However, she still has great hunting instinct. Luckily, NBRAN stepped in and pulled her out of the shelter. She was heartworm positive, but has now completed treatment. Dixie is full of energy and loves to RUN! She will need a large fenced in yard, so she can do what she loves the most. She prefers to spend a lot of her time outside running and exploring the yard for critters. She also loves to just lay outside and watch the world go by. She enjoys cuddling on the couch with her humans. She is the perfect blend of a ball of energy and a calm cuddle bug. There needs to be another dog in the house, as that seems to comfort her and she looks to them for guidance. She loves to play, but is a little shy at first. Loud sudden noises or quick movements toward her make her a little nervous. She is a great car rider, is crate trained and housebroken. She knows her name, listens well and comes when called. She responds to "whoa" and loves "go hunt". She also understands "no". She is a typical brittany on a leash and will pull. She wants to follow her nose. She has not been around cats or kids, since she's been in foster care. However, given her hunting instinct, she would probably not do best with cats. And with her initial shyness, especially around loud noises, older kids would be best. Dixie is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. She is located in SC and is available for transport up to 1400 miles, with the adopter driving the last 100 miles. Her adoption fee is $400 to help offset some of her medical expenses. If you're interested in giving Dixie a forever home, please submit an adoption application to www.nbran.org and mention her name.
