Story
Hi, I`m Lady, and I think we should clear something up right away. Just because my name is Lady doesn`t mean anyone ever taught me how to act like one.I`m an almost two-year-old, black-and-white Schnauzer mix, weighing in at about 35 pounds of cuteness, enthusiasm, and a few questionable manners. But look at this face. Surely that counts for something.I recently transferred to the shelter, and the humans here have already figured out a few things about me. First, I`m an incredibly friendly, easygoing girl who loves people. Second, I have absolutely no problem expressing that love by launching myself into the air to greet you.Apparently, this is frowned upon. The thing is, I haven`t really had someone take the time to teach me the ropes. Nobody has sat me down and explained the finer points of being a well-mannered young lady. So I`ve been making things up as I go, and honestly, I thought I was doing pretty well. But I`m learning that there might be better ways to go about things, and I`d really love someone to show me.I`ve lived with children, another small dog, and a family member who used a wheelchair, so I`m no stranger to family life. I should mention that I can get a little worked up when I`m in my kennel, especially if another dog is barking or making a fuss nearby. Sometimes I just can`t resist joining the conversation. I`ve played nicely with other dogs, including a puppy, and I tend to do better with dogs who are calm. I`m still learning that just because another dog has something to say doesn`t mean I need to answer.I should also mention that while I enjoy a good playdate, I`m not particularly interested in sharing my snacks. This lady prefers to eat alone and can get grumpy when I have to share. So a little space around food would be appreciated while my new family helps me learn.Because underneath my enthusiastic greetings and occasional lack of etiquette is a really sweet girl who wants to get it right. I just need someone to show me what right looks like.I`m Lady. I may not have the manners of a proper lady just yet, but I`ve already got the loving heart. Now I just need someone to teach me the rest.
