Story
Although Rudy may be a senior gentleman, he is one chipper companion! With his happy disposition and immediate outgoing nature, he has a way of quickly making anyone his friend. Rudy found himself at WAHS when his owner could no longer provide care. He stayed at the shelter for a few weeks, then thankfully found placement in a foster home with Welsh Terrier experience. He’s made himself comfortable in the pack with five other dogs and thrives with their company. In his foster home, he’s continued to show off all his spectacular Rudy qualities. First and foremost he LOVES being outside, going for car rides, and going on walks (where he makes sure to lead the pack with his signature prance). While he’s not walking or snuggling up for naps, Rudy patrols the fenced back yard and schedules himself for plentiful sunbathing time. Rudy also has a very easy off switch and gets his fill of sleep time; he puts himself to bed in his dog bed when it’s night time. He’s a sweetheart and loves his people, even cuddling up to them at night, but he can be independent too and isn’t insistent on being with a person at all times. Rudy’s fosters have noted his peaceful demeanor and great manners.Rudy awaits a cat-free home with people who are around often (or won’t kennel him) and are prepared to meet his needs: he’s on daily medication to maintain normal kidney function, he is deaf, and he’s healing from a torn ACL. We share these facts to be upfront and honest that Rudy will need regular veterinary care. While the above information makes Rudy’s placement a bit more specific, we know the right family is out there waiting and he is 100% worth it. In an effort to connect Rudy with an appropriate home match, his adoption fee has been waived.Adopting a senior pet can be the most rewarding experience, and Rudy deserves every bit of the good life. If you’ve read Rudy’s bio and are willing to give the sweetest, most delightful little gentleman a chance, please fill out the application on winonahumane.org/adopt for review.
