Story
Poppy| 2 years old| 26lb | Terrier mix| Dog-friendly Poppy is love and fun on four legs! Here are some awesome things about this girl: Poppy is a big time people person. She gets along well with other dogs, but it's really all about her human family members. She likes to be close to people, and the room you're in is always the best room in the house. She does well with both men and women, and would likely do well with children 8+. Poppy is REALLY pretty. It's not every girl who can pull off a beard, but she's doing it effortlessly. Poppy is fun! This girl lives to play. She loves to chase balls and swat at them with her paws, enjoys digging in the snow, thinks chew toys are the best invention ever, and is delighted by all types of play with both dogs (wrestlemania!) and humans (tug and fetch!) Poppy is a really easy and relaxed dog! She's house-trained, walks well on leash, and is a quiet and low-maintenance presence in the house. While she loves to live it up as previously stated, she also understands down time. Her foster describes her as the perfect mix of calm and playful. If you give her enough play time, she's perfectly content to chill out and relax close to you. If you subscribe to the "work hard, play hard" philosophy--or even just "play hard" part-- you and Poppy might make a great pair! This girl has so much love to give, and would slip effortlessly into your life and your heart. Apply for Poppy here: https://form.jotform.com/pawsacrossthewater/adoption-application

Story
Peyton | 8 months old | 16 lbs | Dog Friendly | GTA Peyton is out here proving that big personalities can come in the smallest--and most adorable--packages. While many foster dogs are a little shy on first arrival, Peyton launched straight out of her travel crate and into her foster's arms! Her attitude was "hello, world!!" She was eager to explore her new surroundings and get to know all the new people who could might potentially cuddle her (her favourite thing). Peyton has two modes: full speed ahead and full baby! She's confident, and full of life. She likes walks and is very curious about new sights and sounds. She likes to run around the house and instigate play with the other dog in the house. When she gets tired, she wants to be held or snuggled in your lap. She's a very affectionate dog and wants nothing more to be around you (or preferably right on top of you!) Peyton is working on typical puppy things like not jumping and housetraining (and making great progress in both areas). She's a quick study and her confidence and bright inquisitiveness make her eager to learn new skills and behaviours. She would be happy in all kinds of different households with or without a dog sibling. She is a little extrovert and likes everyone she meets! Story
Jenny deserves a voice, so we are going to speak for her. A number of people have come to meet Jenny and have decided she was not the right fit. And we understand but we have tried to be very clear that she is extremely fearful. Jenny is not the dog who will run up to you. She will not instantly shower you with kisses. Meet-and-greets are overwhelming for her, and they simply do not show who she truly is. If only she could talk and tell us what she has been through and how to help her feel safe. What we do know is this: She does not need perfection. She does not need pressure. She just needs time. Dogs like Jenny do not bloom in 30 minutes. They bloom in quiet homes. In soft voices. In patience. In consistency. Jenny can live with other dogs and cats, in fact, calm animal companions can really help her feel more secure. A rural or very quiet home would be best for her, where the world is not so loud and overwhelming. She also will not be ready to walk on leash for some time, so a secure backyard is necessary. She needs the safety of her own space while she builds confidence. Walks can come later, right now, feeling safe is what matters most. For Jenny, a meet and greet wont tell the story. Only a 6-week trial will give her the real chance she deserves, the space to decompress, to trust, to slowly show her heart. We truly need people to fully understand all of this before applying. Jenny is not an immediate companion she is a long-term commitment to patience, compassion, and gentle progress. Please don’t expect her to run to you. Expect her to try. Expect small wins. Expect the most beautiful transformation if you’re willing to wait. She is worth it. She is not broken. She just needs someone brave enough to give her a chance. If you believe in the quiet ones. Jenny is waiting. She is being fostered in the Rice Lake area. If you would like more info please message us or fill out an adoption application All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate.
