Story
History and A note from the foster: Mellie is an adorable and spritely pup, who is looking for a forever home after a rough start to life in the commercial breeding world. When Mellie first arrived, she was shut down and frightened of everything as the whole world was new to her. However, her progress has been immense! Her doggy nieces have shown her how to be a dog living the good life and she has gained confidence and has curiosity about everything around her. She loves a snuffle mat and likes a boiled egg with dinner! Mellie takes an every day anxiety medication and her backyard time with puppy pals has been instrumental in helping her uncover the playful, silly Wheaten girl that she is inside! In order for Mellie to thrive in her new home, she will need a confident adult companion dog. While Mellie has built some trust with humans on her own, she is at her happiest and most open when she has another dog to lend her confidence and to be her guide. Mellie will also need a backyard with a physical fence. Since introducing her to her first ever backyard space, Mellie has blossomed as a dog! She loves to run, romp in garden beds, roll on the grass, and splash around in any water available! A backyard space is very important for letting Mellie be her best self. Mellie is a good pup and rarely has accidents inside as long as a regular potty routine is established. Because of her difficult start, she has not used a crate in her foster home. She has been a peaceful sleeper and not destructive when left alone. She would likely do best in a home with adults or a family with older children who can understand her boundaries and her need to build trust with her people. Mellie is a sweet, wonderful Wheaten girl, and would make a fabulous addition to a family looking for a second pup! UPDATE: Mellie’s forever home will need a permanent physical fence space. Mellie loves to play outside but she is a flight risk, so a physical fence is necessary for her to play safely.

Story
History: Georgie was recently returned to rescue when he was no longer a match for his home. He is unsure and timid around men in general and will thrive in a patient and understanding home. He deserves it! A Note from the Foster: Hi my name is Georgie, and I am 2 years old, and even though I am young I am pretty chilled. My foster mom says I have moderate energy level. I love to play but if no one wants to play with me I will amuse myself by chewing on one of my dog toys or just relaxing in my bed. I am a little shy, ok I am really shy especially with men, but I am working really hard to be brave. When I go to a new place I maybe scared at first but I settle in pretty quickly. Meeting new people is a little more scary for me, but just give me a little time and I will get up the courage to come over and say 'Hi'. And once I have gotten to know you I am a little love bug. I currently live with a one year old medium sized foster sister and my 15 year old Dochshund foster brother. So I am fine with both big and small dogs. Since I am a shy around people, if could find a forever home with another dog who can help with my confidence that would be best. I also have some cats that live here, I love one of them because she comes up and rubs against me, but the other cats run away so I will chase them. I love belly rubs, and will lay for hours just being rubbed and brushed. Once I get past my shyness I do love to be close to my people. Greetings them with my little stub tail going so crazy my whole butt moves. And once I get to know and trust you I will become your little goofball shadow always having to see where you are going and what you are doing if you get up and leave the room we are in. My foster Mom says I look like a fuzzy white teddy bear until I get a hair cut, then I am a pretty sophisticated boy ( yes all of these pictures are of me). I am pretty good about going into and sleeping in my crate. But sometime it takes me a little while to find a right comfy spot so I will circle in my crate until I find it. My favorite sleeping position is laying on my back with my legs up in the air. My foster Mom has tried a few time to get a picture of this but I am a very light sleeper and as soon as the phone comes out I have to walk over and smell it. So my foster Mom only gets close up pictures of my nose. I am pretty much potty trained, I have not had an accident in the house since I got here. However when my foster Mom goes away and I am put in my crate I get anxious and I have had accidents then. I am still working on that. I love food and treats and so I am very easy to train. My favorite time of day is breakfast and dinner, I jump into my crate with excitement and wait patiently for my foster mom to put my food down for me. If you have food I will love you. So if you are looking for a sweet dog who is just needs will need a little patience from you at first I will show you what a good boy I am and how I can be the perfect dog for you.

History: Quinn is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She is beyond sweet and working hard with the help of her foster family on her trust and confidence. She is officially ready to start her journey in finding her forever home! A Note from the Foster: Hi! My name is Quinn, and I’m almost 3 years old. These days, my foster family calls me “pretty girl.” I had a rough start in life as part of a breeder release, but over the past seven months I’ve been fortunate to spend time in two wonderful foster homes. I arrived as a very scared girl, but I’ve made incredible progress and grown so much. While sudden movements and unexpected noises can still startle me, I’m getting braver every day. I currently live with an 11-year-old Wheaten Terrier who’s helping show me the ropes. I’m still working on having fewer accidents in my crate and resisting the urge to chew on things I shouldn’t—but I’m eager to learn and improve more each day! I have a moderate energy level and enjoy a nice balance of walks and relaxing—whether that’s napping in my crate or cuddling on the couch. I love playing with toys, spending time with other dogs, and being outside. In fact, being outdoors is one of my favorite things! I’m a very sweet girl and rarely bark. My ideal home would include a fenced-in yard, another dog to play with, and a calm, low-stress environment. I would do best with older children, as younger kids can be a bit unpredictable for me. I can be with littles for a short period of time. I would thrive in a home where my human is home most of the time. I usually need to go potty about every four hours, and I can get a little sad when my people leave. I am sad to leave my current foster family but excited to join my furever family!

Story
History: Fiona is a beautiful girl who arrived to rescue under socialized and expecting puppies! Her puppies have all been adopted into wonderful homes (big thanks to their whelping family!) but Fiona needed extra time to work on her trust and confidence. Please read the full bio below before applying! Fiona has been experiencing urinary leakage and was given a preliminary diagnosis of ectopic ureters, a congenital condition in which the ureters (tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder) do not enter the bladder in the normal location. This can lead to constant or intermittent urine dribbling. To ensure the most accurate diagnosis and best treatment plan, Fiona will be evaluated by specialists at the University of Minnesota for a second opinion. If her diagnosis is confirmed, Fiona will require surgery to correct the ectopic ureters. A Note from the Foster: Meet Fiona 💕 Fiona is a 4-year-old Wheaten Terrier whose gentle soul is finally getting the chance to shine. For the first years of her life, she knew only one thing — raising puppies. She was never shown what it meant to be someone’s dog — loved, cherished, and free to just be. For the past five months in rescue, Fiona has been learning what the good life feels like: soft beds, kind hands, belly rubs, and quiet moments where she can simply rest. Each day she grows a little braver, a little softer, a little more herself. She loves being outdoors — feeling the sun on her fur, rolling in the grass, and watching the world around her with quiet curiosity. Fiona prefers not to be crated; after so many years of confinement, she values her freedom and the safety of open spaces. A calm, predictable home helps her feel secure and confident. She’s still discovering the world, so her forever family will need patience, understanding, and a heart for dogs who’ve walked a harder road. A dog-savvy home with another gentle pup will help her continue to blossom — she finds comfort and courage in the company of canine friends. Fiona doesn’t ask for much — just love, safety, and the chance to keep becoming the dog she was always meant to be. 🌷 If you have room in your heart and home for a tender soul ready to bloom, Fiona is waiting to meet you. 💖
