Story
Savannah is a sweet girl pup born November 10, 2025.  Aspen, a 2-year-old wire hair terrier and her 7 puppies were left in a dumpster in Cleveland. A person who heard them whimpering ran them over to Cleveland City Dogs as they had no food, shelter, or anyone to care for the group. Cleveland City Dogs called Paws and Prayers Pet Rescue to see if they had a warm foster home for the crew right before Christmas and Paws and Prayers said they had room in the inn. Mom is not quite 20 pounds and pups are on the small side too. Since the group came from Cleveland City Dogs, we decided to name them all after Cities with the Mom being named Aspen. We believe her to be part wire hair terrier or schnauzer and the pups looked like maybe a dachshund was the dad, with Austin looking like a dachshund. The girls pups are Aurora, Charlotte and Savannah. The boy pups are Austin, Dallas, Denver and Memphis. All will have their vaccinations, be microchipped and spayed and neutered prior to adoption. Their adoption fee is $450 and Mom is $400. They all have a sweet and loving disposition and will make great additions to any home. If interested in any of these wonderful dogs, please do our non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org.January 11, 2026, 6:52 pm

Story
Mia is currently fostered in Kent Ohio, and his adoption fee is $150 Hello, My name is Mia, I am a 7 yr old cockapoo that was surrendered to this rescue when my former owner was moving, and unable to take me with him. I have always had anxiety issues, and have worked very hard on training in my former home. I did make a lot of progress, and was doing well with my former owner, whom I trusted very much. The transition into rescue and being placed into a foster home has been difficult on me, and I have regressed some. I need a very-very patient person that knows how to handle me correctly. I am not a dog that you can bring into your home, and start loving on right away. You can’t put sweaters or clothes on me like a “normal well-adjusted dog”. I am super cute, and people want to cuddle with and pet me right away, and because of my anxiety, I will get nippy, and most people will not tolerate that. I need to be an only dog, I need a lot of time to get to know and trust people. I can be sensitive to being touched on my neck and face, and I should definitely not be around children. I can be very sweet and loving, but it has to be on my terms. I would make an excellent companion for someone that isn’t expecting a cuddly lapdog and can give me the time and space to adjust, which could easily take months. I am not a bad dog, I actually am well trained, I know sit, down, and walk well on a leash. I sit on command and take treats gently, I listen when told “no”, and like to play with my toys, I really can be a great dog! BUT, you need to be patient and understanding with me. I have been groomed regularly by a groomer, but I do need a muzzle to do my feet. If you think you are a good fit for me, fill out an application, and my foster mom will call you and do a phone interview to determine if we might be a good match together. I am already spayed and up to date on vaccines. If you would like to adopt Mia or would like more information on her, please fill out an adoption application We do not have a shelter, all rescues are in foster homes - Dogs are not shown without first being approved to adopt. Complete an Adoption Application at http://www.cherishedcockers.org/adoptionapp.htm If you have any questions, please E-mail Cherished Cockers Rescue Adoption Donation (vet bill-expenses), Home Visit, Adoption Contract, References Required. We do not ship dogs.Pet needs to be picked up at foster home.In some cases we may be able to assist with transport. We would love to have more foster volunteers so we can rescue and rehome more cocker spaniels. If you are interested in fostering or learning more about it, please complete a Foster Application http://cherishedcockers.org/foster.htm and one of our wonderful volunteers will be in touch!
