How can you not smile looking at this cutie pie? This is Patch appropriately name for the patch over his eye. He is a six month old whippet/Border Collie/pit mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/2 as a stray. He weighs 28 pounds and is still growing. If you think he's cute, you should also interact with him as he has a cute personality also. He has puppy-like behaviors in that he's active, fun-loving, and excitable! When he gets excited, he jumps on you. But because he wants to please, he does get down. At one point he even nudged me for extra attention. He definitely is a people-pleaser and loves the attention of humans. He sits for treats even before a treat is offered. He is so highly motivated by treats that it was hard to take pictures of him standing up. He kept sitting in anticipation of a treat. He takes them gently. He would be easy to train because he is motivated by treats, and wants to please! He gives kisses galore! He's happy, outgoing, gregarious, sweet, friendly, and very loving! He walks OK on a leash. He did his business as soon as he got out in the yard and kept his kennel clean. He tried to make friends with dogs he passed by. He's a real jewel and will not be at the shelter long. He will be in demand. He would like nothing better than to snuggle up on the couch next to you or in his own bed at your feet.
