Story
My name is Maple, like syrup, because I'm super sweet! I look a lot like a shepherd but don't be fooled by my pictures, I'm closer to the size of a large chihuahua! My favorite place is to be near you- lap cat, shoulder parrot, neck scarf, you name it, I can be it! I am sweet to all who meet me and as quiet as a mouse. I run like a race horse so if that's your speed, I'll match it. Snacks on the sofa? I'll be your vacuum. Truly, I wear all the hats and fit in anywhere. If you're looking for sprinkles on your cupcakes, please choose me!

Story
Frankie is a very sweet young pup. He walks great on a leash, sits while you put it on. I'm in my 60s and he is just a little too energetic for me. I rescued him 2 months ago from a abusive situation to save him. He jumps up to greet me when I come home and almost knocks me down. He needs some training for that. He can be destructive if left by himself and bored as he's still a puppy, so i crate him when I leave. Very friendly, loving guy. He would love a big yard to run in. I have a small one. He's potty trained also.

Story
We've had Bailey since a puppy and she's a great dog. She's pretty good around people but fearful of some men and boys. She's great around other dogs. We've never had her around a cat. She would be a better fit for someone who doesn't have young children. She's smart, picks up on words, listens well, will fetch, loves toys and doesn't destroy her squeaky stuffies. She's good on walks and likes to run with you. She has a very quiet demeanor in the house and in the car. She's protective and will bark if there is someone at the door or near our backyard. If she hears a siren she will howl in unison. Her favorite place to sleep is under our bed but she usually sleeps in the living room. I 100% trust her with my boys and most of our extended family, but she doesn't like my toddler nephews who are over all of the time and it's become an issue for our family. We've never boarded her but she's great with our female pet sitters.

Story
Cocoa is a stunning and petite girl who was rescued from a busy highway and given a chance at a brighter future. She found safety with a kind family, but their senior dog struggled to share the home, leading to the difficult and loving decision to find Cocoa a place where she can truly thrive.Cocoa may be a bit shy at first, but with gentle pets and patience, she quickly warms up and shows her sweet, affectionate nature. She’s the perfect size for cuddles, enjoys going for walks, and is just as happy relaxing indoors with her people. Treats, a soft bed, and a calm, loving environment are all she needs to feel right at home.Cocoa is ready to blossom in a forever family who will give her the comfort, kindness, and love she deserves. 💕Est. Story
Looking for an active, smart boy who would love a structured home with plenty of exercise?  Chevy is your guy!     Chevy has been in our program for a few years now as he needs to go to that perfect home that understands him and his needs.  You see, Chevy is a working/herding breed of dog and was on his own to fend for himself for so long on the rough streets of Houston that he's leery of people until he gets to know you.  Chevy had been living under a truck for a while (it was a Chevy) while a Scout's Honor volunteer was working to gain his trust. He kept going every day to feed him and give him some attention. The business near where he was let him come onto their property and provided him some shelter.  Unfortunately, because there was a busy street nearby, Chevy got bumped by a few cars when he was out and about and lost a few teeth as a result.  Luckily, he did not sustain any significant injuries, and just needed to eat and get a bath.  Fast-forward a few years, Chevy is in boarding and loves other dogs and loves to play !  He is a high energy dog, but is also very smart and alert. He needs A LOT of exercise and positive reinforcement, but will pick up very quickly on what you are teaching him. He would be a great dog for agility or flyball!!  As long as you keep him busy and challenged he will impress you with how well he can learn things. He just wants someone who will give him the direction, attention and structure he wants/needs. He would make a great dog for an active home with NO kiddos.  Kiddos are just too unpredictable for this guy.  He also needs a home that understands how to properly introduce him to new people and watch his cues.  Chevy can be very protective of his people and area, so proper intros are a must.  He would do best in a home that does not have a lot of new people coming in/out. True to his Kelpie/Basenji breed, Chevy likes to herd and run and play .  Check out this video of him just having a grand time running - look at those turns!      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L81s-TWX9SA&feature=youtu.be  Kelpie's/Basenji's are unique problem solvers and will find a way to do whatever he deems necessary.  True to these breed, he will also be fierlcy protective of his family (getting back to proper intros).  Chevy fits these traits to a T, and anyone who knows and loves the herding breeds would just adore little Chevy!!   Chevy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped.   Please contact us at info@scoutshonor.org if you are interested in fostering or adopting this precious guy!  You can read all about our foster and adoption process, as well as make a donation for his care, on our website at www.scoutshonor.org.    Scout's Honor Rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters. EIN # is 87-0773073 Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scoutshonorrescue or Instagram at www.instagram.com/scoutshonorrescue We have multiple ways to donate: Venmo:  @ScoutsHonor-Rescue Paypal: www.paypal.me/scoutshonorrescue   https://scoutshonor.org/take-action/donate/ We are strictly volunteer based, no salaries are paid and 100% of donations go towards rescuing dogs June 2, 2026, 7:53 pm

Story
Meet Journey!Blue eyed Journey is a 4 ½-year-old, 80-pound bundle of energy and love! He’s playful, sweet, and goofy, always ready for fun and adventure.
