Story
Meet Cookie.
Cookie is a 1.5-year-old wire-haired terrier mix, about 30 pounds, who is truly coming into her own as she settles into foster care. While she is still very sweet and affectionate, her growing confidence has revealed a fun, active side that makes her a joy to have around.
Cookie is an energetic little girl who loves to play and is beginning to actively engage with all the dogs around her. She enjoys being part of the pack and loves spending time with her canine friends. As her excitement grows, she can be a bit jumpy at times, and she is currently working on learning an “off” command. She’s eager to learn and responds well to consistency and gentle guidance.
She does great on leash walks and is doing well with her potty training, especially going number one while on leash, which is a big step forward. She will continue to improve with a consistent routine and regular opportunities outside, making her a good fit for apartment living or homes without a fenced yard.
Cookie does wonderful with other dogs of all sizes and truly enjoys their company, though she could also thrive as an only dog in a home that provides regular activity, playtime, and engagement. After a good play session, she’s happy to relax and be near her people.
Cookie tested positive for Lyme disease, which is a non-contagious, tick-borne illness. She is currently being treated with antibiotics. If Cookie finds her forever home before completing her medication, the remaining medication will be sent along with her. Many dogs who test positive for Lyme go on to live happy, normal lives with no long-term effects.
With her blend of sweetness, playfulness, and growing confidence, Cookie would do best in a home ready to embrace an active, social girl who is excited to keep learning and enjoying life.
Cookie is fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Her adoption fee is $275.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
