Story
This senior Chihuahua is a tiny gentleman with very strong opinions. Duckie may be a little cranky (and perhaps a bit snippy at times), but he comes by it honestly; he’s earned the right to have boundaries, and he expects them to be respected. Duckie is looking for an experienced, adult-only home where life is calm, predictable, and free of nonsense. Think cozy naps, minimal chaos, and a human who understands that consent matters even when you weigh under 10 pounds. Underneath the sass, there’s a loyal little companion who will happily share space with his person on his own terms. If you appreciate a dog with personality, humor, and a touch of spice, this tiny old man might just be your perfect match. This animal is at the City of Chico Animal Shelter. Story
Luna is about four years old. We rescued her from Wags and Wiskers when she was eighteen months old. She wasn’t socialized and was fearful of anyone walking near her. She behaved as though she was used to having things thrown at her and being kicked. She started to show full trust after a year, and that’s a gradual process. Luna had not been used to being fed regularly, so she arrived very thin. She became obsessed with food and is now an bit overweight. Luna is a loyal dog; she loves to sit next to her owner and lets you know she wants a tummy rub. She will go to sleep if you do it for long enough. It takes her a while to warm to a new person, so the best thing is to sit and not look at her much. She will approach and do things her own way. When we moved home, she found it difficult to adapt for a while, and house training had to be reinforced again. A pad near the exit for just in case for a day or two. She is a sweet heart and wants to please, she will give you affection in return.
