Story
Bleu is new around here, but also not new at all. He joined us from our good friends in Texas in June and was adopted in July. When life threw a curveball, he found his way back to CRA. We’re disappointed it didn’t work out, but fully committed to finding him the right forever home this time. Bleu is a sensitive boy—like, actually. Change is hard for him and he needs time to process. He’s sweet as can be and never shows anything but love, but he does require patience, reassurance, and someone fully prepared to wipe the drool that comes from being an emotional little marshmallow. He’ll fall in love with you faster than you expect, but fair warning—the first few days may come with some sad eyes while he confirms he’s safe. After that? You’re his person. Our unofficial best guess is that he’s a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix. We’re not experts, but if that’s the case, he’s absolutely nailed both. At roughly 80 pounds, Bleu comes with a heavy head and zero personal space. A large couch (and a sense of humor) is highly recommended. We do think Bleu needs a fenced yard—yes, he really said, “Let’s make this complicated.” But we promised him we’d give him everything he needs (and maybe everything he wants… have you seen his face?). He’d love a dog friend, but it’s not mandatory—we’re trying to be realistic here. No other dog? No problem. He’d be happy with some semi-frequent playdates to keep life interesting and is totally fine having you all to himself. Bleu loves structure—set him up with a solid routine and some training, and he’ll be the best boy you ever met. Ignore it, and… well, he’ll still be cute.

Klondike found his way to CRA after it became clear that local animal control was just a brief stop on his journey to his forever home. He’s estimated to be between one and one-and-a-half years old and is a Great Pyrenees or Great Pyrenees mix. While he shows many of the classic livestock guardian traits, it’s safe to say farm life isn’t in his future—this boy prefers the finer things and would be happiest living a pampered life right by his people’s side. Klondike is dog-friendly and loves having canine companions. He’s still learning how to play, and while his style may not be the most graceful, he’s an excellent sport. He has met dogs both larger and smaller than himself and has had only positive interactions. He can get excited but isn’t overwhelming, making him a wonderful companion for a home with another dog or with dog friends who visit often. Klondike is a total lover boy who would happily give endless hugs. He does great in his crate and only barks when another dog is being let out—because if a friend is free, why not him too? A crate-trained Great Pyrenees may sound wild, but it’s true, and it just adds to his undeniable ability. He’s mostly potty trained and will simply need a little time in his forever home to adjust to a new schedule and environment. Interested in being Klondike’s forever home? Apply directly here! He’s currently being fostered in Chicago and is adoptable within a three-hour radius—officially that’s our adoption policy, but honestly, we just can’t imagine him going any farther. Klondike is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative, microchipped, and just needs to put on a little more healthy relationship weight.

25 pounds These boys had such a rough start to their young life. They found themselves at a very scary animal control where they quickly contracted an aggressive strain of Parvo virus. The boys were SO sick, we were concerned that they may not survive. Fortunately, these little fighters responded to treatment and the loads of love we lavished them with and are now the happiest, healthiest nuggets ever! These sweet boys are beyond precious-they are so loving and gentle with very demure demeanors. We believe they are Anatolian mixes and will most likely grow up to be big beautiful adults. They are wonderful with people and animals alike and will continue to blossom with love, encouragement, and basic puppy training.
