Story
Meet Xena 💛Xena is a 9-month-old, 44-pound Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix with a gentle soul and a heart that’s just starting to bloom. She’s scheduled to be spayed on May 28 and is up to date on her rabies vaccine.Xena didn’t have much early socialization, so the world can feel a little overwhelming to her at times. She’s very timid and may shut down in new situations, lowering her head and quietly observing rather than jumping in. But underneath that cautious exterior is an incredibly sweet, docile girl who truly wants to connect—she just needs patience and understanding to get there. Her confidence shines brightest when she’s around other dogs. In fact, Xena would do best in a home with a confident canine companion to help guide her and bring her out of her shell. Once she feels safe, her adorable personality starts to peek through—she gets a little “derpy,” loves chasing her tail, and shows just how endearing she really is.Xena is doing well with housetraining when kept on a consistent schedule. She walks nicely on a leash and is very smart (she’s even figured out how to open doors!). She’s been good with chickens and rabbits, and while she noticed a cat that wasn’t so friendly, she chose to walk away rather than escalate.Car rides can be stressful for her, and she may get sick or have nervous accidents, so she’ll need a patient adopter willing to help her build confidence with travel over time.Xena is the kind of dog who will form a deep, loyal bond with her person once she feels safe. She may not be the life of the party right away, but with time, love, and a steady routine, she will reward you with quiet companionship and trust. If you’re looking for a gentle, sensitive dog who just needs a chance to feel secure—and maybe a dog friend to show her the ropes—Xena might be your perfect match. 🐾
