Story
If you love Akitas you must run - don't walk! - down to the NHSPCA to meet Bear! This magnificent gentleman (approximately 80 pounds) was transferred to the NHSPCA from an overcrowded shelter in Texas, and we are SO glad that he's here! Bear is pretty much perfect - a stoic boy with lots of love in his heart for his people. He is friendly without being overbearing, cuddly when he's got the chance to snuggle with you, and he happens to be one of the sweetest Akitas I've had the pleasure of meeting. Bear is extremely house trained and will hold it for 18 hours if he has to - of course, we never make him wait that long, we just want to emphasize how much this boy dislikes going to the bathroom inside the home. He participated in doggie play groups in Texas with other dogs of both sexes who were similar in size to him, and he did well during play yard time. He can be strong on leash but we suspect this is because he's stuck in a kennel for most of the day and he is thrilled when he gets the chance to explore with a human friend. Oh, and Bear was also perfectly behaved for his veterinary exam, easily winning the heart of his veterinarian. If you've been waiting for one of the best Akitas to ever grace the world with his presence, you should come meet Bear today! If you'd like to meet Bear and all his friends at the New Hampshire SPCA, please visit our Adoption Center during our open hours: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day except Wednesdays (closed). Have questions? Call (603) 772-2921 ext. 110 or email info@nhspca.org today. Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 36.8 Age: 3yrs 6mths 0wks

Story
Meet Mishi! A true New Hampshirite, our girl is a 8-year-old senior with the heart of an adventurer. Mishi loves hikes, snow, and sunsets, but equally digs a nap and settling in calmly at home. As you can see from her photos, she bonds deeply with her humans and is incredibly loyal. Why she needs you: Mishi is heartbroken after recently losing her owner. She is currently in a temporary home with 4 other dogs, and the chaos is overwhelming for her. This instability and stress has triggered aggression and behavioral issues in the 4 weeks. We do not want her to be euthanized because of her history in the last month. The Ideal Home: We are looking for a patient, compassionate owner with NO other animals. She needs a quiet, solo-pet environment to decompress and heal her broken heart. She deserves an owner who can help heal her broken heart. If you can offer patience, Mishi will be the most loyal companion by your side. Open your heart and save her life, please!
