Story
We are reaching out for assistance in rehoming our dog, Batman. He is an incredibly sweet and loving dog, especially around people, and he does wonderfully with children. Batman truly thrives on human companionship and wants to be near someone at all times. However, he struggles with significant separation anxiety. He is unable to stay inside the home when we are away, as he becomes very anxious and destructive. He also consistently breaks out of kennels and is able to jump our backyard fence. Because we live next to a busy road, we are extremely concerned for his safety and, after much thought, we have realized that we can no longer provide the environment he needs to stay safe. Batman is an amazing dog who would do best with a family able to be with him throughout the day and night, giving him the security and attention he needs. We want to ensure he is placed in the right home where he can thrive.

Story
MEET DIVA!STATS: 1 year old, spayed, Black Akita MixAFFECTION/ENERGY LEVEL: I am the type of pup that is down for ANYTHING! I have great energy and I am always on the move! I am constantly in motion, whether it is playing outside with my dog friends, going on enthusiastic sniff-filled walks, or just looking up at you and smiling. I am always excited for whatever the next adventure is! While I bring the most bubbly energy to the table, I am also super affectionate and will snuggle my way into your heart. I am so ready to be your new best friend!WHAT I LOVE: I LOVE to PLAY! I am an expert at fetch, so you better get your arm stretches in. I am very dog friendly and a total socialite, so I will make sure we are the life of the party at whatever function we attend. My social side is just one of my many incredible attributes, my smile is another - I am always flashing my pearly white grin. When I look at you, you can just feel the love!KIDS: I haven`t been formally tested with kids, but my shelter family believes I would be good with older kids who understand my energy level and respect my space! I love to leap and bound around, so kids that I can`t accidentally knock over would be ideal!OTHER DOGS: I`m SUPER dog-friendly and enjoy the company of other dogs! I go to playgroup here at the shelter! I am also one of the pups the shelter uses to temperament test other dogs, so I have to be on my best behavior!CATS: UnknownHER MATCH: I would be perfect for a family that likes to stay active, but snuggle hard during downtime. Once I get some of my young pup energy out, I am ready to crash for a dog-nap. When I love, I love you with my whole heart – you can just see it in my eyes!SPECIAL NOTE: My shelter family jokes that I am a Heinz 57 blend of dogs! They aren`t quite sure what mix I am, but whatever it is made one absolutely wonderful girl!Complete an online application and get pre-approved to adopt at https://www.cognitoforms.com/YorkCountyAnimalControl/PetAdoptionSurvey. Once you complete the app, a staff member will call you in 1-2 business days once approved to set up a time for you to meet the pet you are interested in.Every adoptable pet is Spayed or Neutered, implanted with a microchip, current on age appropriate vaccinations including a current 1-year Rabies Vaccination, and current on monthly Flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention for dogs. Story
Meet Molly (formerly known as Miley)! Breed: akita/mix. Age: almost 5 years, approx birthdate 12/22/20. Weight: approx 50lbs. Training: crate, leash, and house trained. She knows basic commands. Good with other dogs/cats? Yes, she does great with other dogs. No cats. Good with adults/kids? Yes. She is a bit shy/reserved upon first meeting and in new situations, but that doesn't last long. She is very loyal. She does fine with kids but kids 5 and older would be better suited for her playful side! Personality: timid/reserved at first, but she warms up to be playful and affectionate! She loves belly rubs and when you stop, she will paw for more :). She loves to play in the kiddie pools during the summer. Reason for rescue: originally, Molly came into rescue as part of an accidental litter. She was adopted in 2021 and returned due to owners losing their home. Molly is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and current on vaccinations and preventatives. If interested in adding this sweet baby to your family, please message for an adoption application! Adoption fee: $75.December 9, 2025, 10:25 am
