Chance was rescued off Mendota Road Bristol Va We’re pretty confident he was dumped out here. He was running the streets for at least a month and a half, possibly longer during the coldest days of the year. I say he went from “streets to sheets” He loves to snuggle and play with toys. He’s great at playing catch. Hes neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped, and heartworm negative. He does wonderful with our female puppy and male border collie mix. We are making progress with his socialization with our Great Pyrenees. He’s potty trained, knows sit, shake and down. We’ve been practicing “wait” at the door. We’ve been desensitizing him to his crate by feeding him in it. Vet says he’s probably a little over a year old. He seems gentle with our cats but we’ve only let him interact while on leash. Chance needs: - A patient and understanding family willing to help him adjust to his new home. - A safe and secure environment where he can flourish and feel loved. - Regular exercise and playtime to keep him happy and healthy. CHANCE – have you ever seen a more handsome fella? Just a few things about this sweet guy. The vet believes that Chance is between 18mo - 2yrs old and weighs 59lbs. • He is heart worm negative and neutered. •He is super sweet and gentle - wants to cuddle and be near his person. •He is dog-friendly (the foster doesn’t have cats, so we are not certain if he’s cat-friendly) •He is people-friendly to everyone he has met. Foster does not have small children, but he has been fine around children on walks. Due to his size and youth, he might knock down small children, but he is not aggressive. •He is house broken. Even in the rain and snow he has let us know he needs to go out. •He is a little timid to new people at first, but warms up quickly. •He very rarely barks. •He has learned to sit, walk on a leash, and “wait” for his food bowl to be put down. •He is very food motivated, so can be easily trained with treat rewards. He is not reactive when eating. •He can be possessive over certain toys with a low, warning growl if another dog tries to take it from him. •He is not interested in fetching a ball, but loves chew toys and antlers. • He can be very active, but is also happy cuddled up with his person. •He would do great in a house with another dog, but would be fine as an only dog also. Saved from a trailer park mud hole and 18 wheeler traffic, this sweet soft furred puppy has already been adopted once by a Venezuelan couple. They adored her but like most young college students, they decided they did not have the time for her. It lasted less than two weeks. But the experience was very beneficial for Smoothie. She adapted quickly to their dog training techniques. She does tricks for treats, walks well on a leash and makes an excellent bed buddy.
