Story
Munchkin is a cute female Labrador Retriever/Husky mix puppy who was brought to the HSOV on February 15, 2026 along with her seven siblings (Abyssinian, Birman, Bombay, Devon Rex, Maine Coon, Ragdoll, and Sphynx). These beautiful puppies were found fending for themselves on River Lane near Marietta Ohio. Fortunately a Good Samaritan found these youngsters and brought them to the safety of our shelter. The puppies were estimated to have been 10-weeks old at that time.
Munchkin has a sleek black shorthaired coat with white markings on her chest/belly, white toes/paws, a long tail, and an adorable (rather mischievous-looking) puppy face with sparkling brown eyes, a large spot of white above her black button nose, slender muzzle, and short floppy ears.
This little playgirl has a lovable fun-loving puppy personality. Munchkin and her brothers/sisters are sharing their very own room in a quiet area of our shelter, and they are always romping/playing to their heart's content.
These photos of Munchkin were taken on March 31, 2026. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Techs Liz Stingley and Lauryn Hamilton for assisting each of the puppies with their 'big boy/big girl' pictures that day (and for providing carry-out service to/from their room).
Munchkin apparently thought this was a contest to see which puppy had the most playful energy and didn't realize the intent was to take cute still-life photos (smile). Munchkin showed off her 'bungee jumping skills' several times when she bailed off the sofa and demonstrated her zoomies in the lobby of the shelter. Never a dull moment when Munchkin is around~
HSOV is currently accepting applications for these adorable youngsters. They are available for foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application .. And they will be spayed/neutered before they are officially adopted by their foster family.
Update:Munchkin went home with a foster family on April 11, 2026 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.
Munchkin was returned by her foster family on April 16, 2026 through no fault of her own since they felt she would be a better fit with a family who had an active lifestyle, a large yard, and perhaps a furry friend for a playmate.
Update 4/25/2026: Munchkin went home with a foster family this afternoon so that she can enjoy a real home environment while she awaits her forever home ..
Munchkin is still available for adoption/ foster-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.
Update 5/2/2026: Munchkin went home with another foster family on May 2, 2026 who plans to adopt her after she is spayed.
