Welcome Daisy 🌼 to SSBR! Locals from the neighborhood said she’s been roaming the streets since last June. She was chipped, but owners had no intention of taking her back 😭 thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers and trappers she was finally caught! And because one person said ‘yes’ to fostering we were able to welcome her into our rescue. She went to the vet today and started her initial care. She is not pregnant which is great, but does have heartworms. She also had a double ear infection and skin infection from hundreds of fleas. Any funds spared we could surely use! From her foster mom Alyna: Everyone, please meet Daisy. Daisy was doing everything that she could survive in the woods by a school. She would eat garbage, and sleep under the trees. This includes all of these freezing nights that we complain about 😫. She had an angel watching over her, and that angel is named Sarah. Sarah trapped her after nights of trying and never giving up. What makes matters worse, is that she could be pregnant. We will confirm tomorrow, but regardless either she gave birth to puppies and was abandoned, or she is expecting puppies now. Macey is an 8 yr. Old sweetheart who came from the pound. She was found as a stray. She is completely house trained and has never had an accident in the house. She knows basic commands and is a respectful dog who doesnt jump on you when greeting or anytime. She is scared right now of other dogs and gets assertive on walks when she sees them. We just walk past them. She doesnt need a crate when left alone though will go in one. I have had medical issues and that is why I cannot keep her. I don’t want her back at animal control. She is very sensitive and picks up on your moods and is very smart and again I say sweet. She needs someone good with dogs who is loving and can take her on walks and maybe has a fenced in yard to play in. She loves her toys but not fetch. She needs a loving home with someone that is strong as she is 60 pounds. She asks to get on the bed and furniture first, for permission. She is beautiful.

Gertie is a vivacious, fun-loving senior bulldog mix. She is estimated to be about 10 years old and weighs around 50 pounds, although she is a short stack. Gertie found herself at a local shelter, underweight, heartworm positive, terrible skin and was obviously used for breeding. We have completed all her medical treatment, including heartworm treatment, and she is now ready to find her forever home and be somebody's baby. Gertie is great with all people, both children and adults. She's friendly, outgoing, silly, loving and affectionate. She loves to cuddle, chew bones and will make you smile with her silly rolling and fun personality. She is the best co-sleeper! When it comes to other dogs, Gertie is a true bully. She's a dominant girl and can be a bit obnoxious. She does well with other dogs that are truly submissive and tolerant. She does have some food aggression with other dogs (not people) and that has been easily handled in her foster home by feeding her separate. She's not at all offended by that. Gertie is really a gem of a lady and she really is so fun and cute. Especially with her wide grin and crooked smile, she will definitely steal your heart.
