Story
***Bumper is currently located at our rescue in Georgia. With an approved application, he can be transported to New Jersey and available for adoption at the Tractor Supply in Ringoes during one of our monthly adoption events. An application for his adoption should be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Bumper and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the rescue's phone number.*** In November 2023, Scott Bennett received a call about a dog that had been struck by a car and was lying on the side of the road. Once Scott was able to reach this dog and see his condition, he really didn't hold much hope that the dog would survive. In addition to being very emaciated, and covered in blood, there was a large gash on his head which was the point of impact by the car's bumper (which is how he gt his name). Scott held little hope that this dog would survive but took him to SoCo with the intent of having him humanely euthanized. But to everyone's surprise, this dog did survive the night but obviously suffered a concussion. But to everyone's surprise, he did survive the night and with each passing day, showed a little more improvement than the day before.  It took a while for Bumper to heal from his injuries and regain his health. Even after he did, he had to undergo heartworm treatment and be neutered, which is why he has remained at our shelter for nearly two years. During all that time, Bumper has shown his appreciation by being very friendly and playful with our staff. He always has a big smile on his face and is simply a wonderful dog, one of Scott's favorites at the rescue.  Bumper has been kept up-to-date on his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. He is very strong and while we've been working on his leash training, he does still pull a bit when being walked. He will also require additional house training. He loves spending time both indoors and outside so a home that allows him space to run and play would be best. Bumper has also already been neutered as well. He is slightly overweight, but once in a home and allowed more "play time", he should drop those few extra pounds. We would not recommend a home with very young children as he may inadvertently hurt them since he is very strong, but should do well if the children are responsible in their handling of a large dog.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 13, 2025, 3:00 pm

Story
***   Milo is with a loving Foster in NJ. Questions about  Milo  and/or our adoption policy should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com; please do not call the rescue's phone number. An application for his adoption should be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login).***  When he was about 5 months old,  Milo  and his five brothers were found living in horrible conditions. They initially were under the care of another rescuer and we took them into our rescue once space became available.  Milo has been a very friendly and playful fellow since arriving at our rescue. He has a great personality and simply loves interacting with people. He quickly won the hearts of our staff and has been one of our favorites here at SoCo Rescue. He will make a great addition for anyone looking to add a larger-sized dog to their active lifestyle. Milo   has been kept up to date on his annual vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives as well as being neutered. He did recently test negative for heartworms. He will need additional house and leash training. While  Milo   has interacted with other dogs in the past, we'd require a "meet-and-greet" with any other dogs that he'd share the home with.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 19, 2025, 1:43 pm

Story
Available at Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ this weekend (12/20 & 12/21).  If interested, please fillout our application at www.socorescue.com & select Forms.  No phone calls please.  We received a call from a man seeking help in finding a home for a female dog that had delivered a litter of pups at his home. At first, the man claimed that the mom was a stray, but we later learned that this dog was actually his. Regardless, the man said his landlord was going to evict him if he didn't remove mom and pups immediately.    Since we were completely full at the time, we put out a plea for help, seeking a foster home for them all. That's when our friend and fellow dog rescuer, Darlene Nobles, offered to take in mom and her 8 one week old pups. And not only did Darlene serve as their foster, he also helped nurse the mom, who was very thin and missing fur due to flea infestation, back to health and work on her disposition towards strangers. It was through Darlene's determination that all of the pups survived and have developed great and very friendly personalities. There's no doubt that she will now make a great addition into just about any home and become a treasured member of that family.   Speckles has now received all three of her first year "puppy" vaccines, been de-wormed a proper intervals and started on monthly preventatives. Speckles adopter must agree to having her spayed at 6 months of age and provide verification of such to our rescue.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 16, 2025, 4:36 pm
