***Baron is currently at one of our foster homes in Georgia. He is available for adoption both in the Georgia and New Jersey areas with transportation to the north covered. Please do not call the number listed for SoCo as the staff in Georgia stays very busy and is unable to field calls at this time.*** Like a death row inmate awaiting the call from the Governor, Baron was really praying that his stay of execution would also come in time. He was locked up at the Laurens Co Animal Control and out of "time" in which to have a licensed rescue pull him. A few days earlier, Baron met a nice man who came and took other dogs out of the troubled animal control, even stopped to speak with Baron. And while this man promised to come back for him, Baron was beginning to believe the man had forgotten him. But then Baron heard a familiar voice call out to him and say "See, I told you I was coming back for you!" Standing there before him was the same nice man he'd met a few days earlier and he was carrying a leash. Baron's stay of execution came through just in the nick of time. Baron learned that this man was named Scott and he was with a dog rescue called SoCo Rescue. Baron didn't fully understand what all that meant, but he sure was happy to be out of that animal control an n the SoCo Rescue bus.  Baron's first stop was to see a vet where he was tested for heartworms, which his test results came back negative, and he received a bevy of vaccinations,  de-wormers and other things that didn't taste real good but were very good for him. From there, Mr. Scott took him to a foster home where he's been since. During that time Baron was also neutered and has been kept on his monthly preventatives. He's also proven to be very friendly to people and other dogs, even getting along great with his foster family's older dog. Baron has also displayed some house training experience but may need additional training once in his new home. There's no doubt that Baron will make a great family companion. ***Nova is currently at our Tarrytown, GA location.  If you are interested in Nova, please fill out an application and she can be transported to NJ on our next Freedom Ride! Nova and several other dogs were abandoned when the owner vacated the  property, likely running from the law.  Several of the dogs were in terrible condition and one of them passed away.   Local authorities asked SoCo to help out but we did not have room at the time.  Fortunately, the Mount Vernon Animal Control graciously offered to house and care for the dogs until we could take them in.  Nova has been friendly and playful.   Nova earned her  nicknamed "Bowtie" because of the gray-shaped bowtie design on her  head.   It's as if she is thankful for being saved and offered a life worth living.  She is a strong dog and sometimes does not know her own strength.  She would likely do best with an experienced dog owner with love and time to  commit.  She is showing all the signs of being a remarkable lifetime companion. Tilly is a special girl! When she came into the pound at only 10-12 weeks of age she was put with a litter of 4 pups who were about the same age. They all knew each other but Tilly had to adjust - which she did! She is eager to please and we believe she will be easily trained! She is now spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. Tilly savors having her velvety ears gently rubbed and she is mellow when relaxing. She enjoys car rides, walking and playing. While inside, she alerts with a low bark when a different car comes down the driveway - an appreciable trait to know about Tilly!

Wags Rescue welcomes Butterball! This precious, wonderful little girl was dumped in a rural area when the family tired of her. There were cameras who caught that and hopefully law enforcement has prosecuted. Butterball is the happiest, well mannered, loving girl. She’s 6-7 mos old, spayed, hw neg and microchipped. Butterball is only 36 lbs and will most likely be around 45 lbs -50 lbs when grown. She looks to be American Bulldog mixed with some hound.
