Meet Leonidas! Hi! My name is Leonidas, but all my friends call me Leo. I'm kind of a celebrity around here, but don't worry, it still hasn't gone to my head. I am one of the longest residents here at the Humane Society, I've been in their care since August of 2021. I'm an American Bulldog mix, and the birthday they helped me choose is 08/19/2016. Now that I've got the boring stuff out of the way, let me tell you about me! If you'll indulge me in bragging for a moment, I'll tell you I am one of the BEST huggers you will ever meet. I have never met someone who didn't melt right in my paws. If you give the right first impression, good luck stopping me from giving you a snuggle. I love a good treat, I mean who doesn't? My friends have taught me a lot of basic commands, and if you give me a reward or use a clicker I will listen for sure. I'm also a sucker for a good chew toy. Rubber balls and hard toys are my absolute favorite! My friends like to give me Kongs filled with peanut butter, and I can't get enough of those. I could chew on a good toy for hours, honestly! A couple of things you should know about me are my HUGE fear of storms, for one. Way back before I lived at the shelter, I was shot in the shoulder area and the thunder just reminds me of that way too much. I'm fine now from the gunshot, though, not even a scar! I also want to be the only pet in the home. Other dogs and cats are fun to think about, but I don't actually want to be anywhere near them. I think kids are pretty fun! I love to give them big hugs and kisses, but they should be old enough to understand my boundaries. I can get a nervous if you hold me too firmly, and I know some really little ones don't understand that yet. Leo is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee has been sponsored! Meet Max! Hey guys, my name is Max! I'm an American Bulldog mix, and I was born sometime around 7/1/23. Right now, I weigh in around 65lbs. I came to the shelter after I went on a solo adventure away from my home, and my parents never found me. I was a little sad about that at first, but the people here at the shelter have made sure I feel right at home while we look for a new place for me! Some things about me are my love of playing and runnging, and not to brag but I've been told I'm pretty photogenic! I have a lot to learn still, but my friends have been teaching me some basic manners, like leash skills and commands like "sit". He’s house trained, crate trained and a great eater! He is curious for life, and would likely do best with a home or space with a fence. We’ve not had to crate him, and have had no issues. This is our sweet precious Lucy. Lucy had an owner but her owner used to turn her out every day to wander the streets. A friend of the rescue would pick her up when she saw her and bring her home. She feared that Lucy would get hit by a car so one day when she returned her home, she asked the owners if they would surrender her to a rescue. They agreed and Lucy arrived here happy as a clam. She's a big girl, not fat, just a big girl. She's a very gentle big girl, sleeps in my bed with all the little ones sleeping on top of her! She loves children and cats. She was heart worm positive when she arrived but we have cleared all of that up. Lucy maybe a little older at 8 years but she has the energy of a puppy.
