Story
Maddie is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Maddie is apx 4 years old and weighs 7.5 pounds. A nice couple found her on New Year’s Eve. She must’ve gotten spooked by the fireworks and ran from wherever she was. The couple posted her everywhere to try and find her owners. Maddie had several dog bites on her so she must have been attacked by dogs while on the run. This was all very traumatizing for her. I am very surprised they even caught her because Maddie is extremely skittish. She has tried to nip a few times out of fear. Maddie is wonderful with dogs and cats but absolutely NO children. Maddie warms up after a few days to her person and will allow you to pick her up, cuddle her and pet her but she just needs some time to decompress. She did okay at the vets office, but we did have to burrito her in a towel. Maddie is just extremely scared but once she gets comfortable with her surroundings and her people she is 110% love bug and would like a warm, calm, loving, patient, mature, home to spend her years in. Maddie does not appear to do well with change. A fenced yard would be best unless someone is willing to use pee pads, until she is comfortable and confident walking on a leash with a very well fitted harness, with her person. She rarely barks, doesn't make a sound and uses potty pads. She loves bedding, blankets, naps and attention once she is comfortable with you. She is a very demure and shy baby but she will blossom with every kiss, cuddle and some positive praise. Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Prissy is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Prissy aka Prissy Pants. Prissy is apx 10 years old and 9.8 pounds. She is a hoot. Prissy is sure to make you laugh on a daily basis. She always has her tongue out and a sideways tilty head. She loves all dogs, cats and people. Prissy has good potty manners to go outside but will use a pad if needed. She is not fussy and is just genuinely a happy go lucky girl. Prissy does have a bit of a neurological quirk, she does not love being picked up or held. She LOVES attention, being pet and doted upon, sitting on your lap, sleeping next to you and following you around. When you pick her up she will wiggle, turn her head very drastically and does not really seem to have control of this drastic head turn when she is lifted up. This is an involuntary action. We have no clue why she does this. It may be head trauma at some point but we are unsure. This truly does not effect Prissy’s quality of life and she is an extremely happy and loving girl. She is chi/terrier mix and low to no shedding. She does not bark often but when she does bark it is just one single odd noise that sounds more like a screaming goat than a dog. She is just special and will bring you years of joy Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Minnie is currently being fostered in TEXAS. Minnie, the cat dog. Apx 10 year and 10 pounds but acts much younger than she is. Minnie had a dental and still has a few chompers left. She loves to play and likes other dogs and cats. She likes toys and loves being outside. Minnie is from a very bad hoarding situation. She originally came into rescue fearful and afraid but not aggressive. She doesn't bite or growl however she is still skittish. Minnie won’t just come to you for attention or to be picked up, which I know makes her very hard to adopt. She gets so excited when she sees us coming, she loves when we get back from work or errands. She loves the mornings and she will follow us all over the yard. She loves to be around people and other dogs. However, if you try to call her or pick her up she will run away from you. After three months, we still have to corner her and then pick her up though she does not try to bite or get away from you she just kind of freezes. You can bathe her and do her nails and take her to the veterinary clinic, but I don’t know how long it’s going to take for Minnie to be one of those dogs that will want to sit in your lap. So she is a cat dog. She likes to know that you’re around and she absolutely adores the other animals. She needs a home with a yard and a good sense of humor. She needs a home that will let her come around on her own time but while still pushing her and teaching her to be a dog. We know someone is out there ready for a challenge 🙂 To get approved please visit our website www.texaschihuahuarescuecanada.org to fill in an application to adopt.
