Story
Daisy would be best suited with a family without any other pets or small children. She loves to cuddle and for things to be calm. She is litter box-trained but has issues with pooping outside the litter box occasionally depending on her stress level. I have developed an allergy to cats and am needing to rehome her.

Story
I adopted Mr. Chonk when he was a whomping 20-25lbs. In the year that I have had him he has come a long a way at a solid 17lbs so still a long way to go. He is a fantastic boy with an amazing cuddley demeanor I have to rehome him because he does not get along with the female cat in the home. He does, however, mostly get along with the male cats. He would thrive in a single pet home where he gets all the attention that he believes he deserves.

Story
Biscuit is 10 years old and I am unfortunately not able to keep her, as she is not getting along with my girlfriends cat. She is a very very sweet and cuddly kitty. If she has a place to nap and gets some scratches she is in heaven.

Story
Simba was born here to a feral mother who showed up after being sat out at our home. He is a sweet little boy. He is close to a year old and small for his age. Simba loves cuddling. Trying to steal your food. And being around other animals. He does have what we call a bubble on his belly. It has never affected him to date and it does not cause any pain if its touched. He has not been fixed as of this date but an appointment will be set for January or we will allow you to schedule an appointment with your vet. We will ask for a vet reference. We had a large amount of animals set out on our property and we have have worked very hard to take care of them all. We would keep them all but 30 cats is not healthy for us or them. They deserve to have more attention than we can provide at this time.

Story
Indy is a mellow, reserved gentleman who I've finally gained the trust of. He is a sweet cat who can be a big scardy cat at times. He will do best in a more clam paced environment. Indy we think is around 4 years old and he is FIV positive . He is at this time pretty healthy and not symptomatic . He is good with a litterbox and will be adopted to an indoor only home. He is neutered, microchipped, utd on vaccines felv negative and again is fiv +

Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  They call me Spencer now—though once upon a time, I was just “that shadow outside.” You might have seen me if you’d passed by that house… a tall, sleek Bombay with silky black fur and glowing amber eyes, standing just out of reach. I wanted so badly to be touched, to be loved, but my paws hesitated. My heart whispered wait… is it safe? One day, it was. My foster mom’s kindness broke through my fear, and she brought me inside where the world was warm and safe. She worried for me out there—worried about a dog that was a little too curious, worried that my story would end before it ever really began. But now, I’m safe. Now, I’m a real inside cat… and oh, how I treasure it. See my tipped ear? That’s proof someone cared once, enough to have me fixed. But somehow, I ended up alone again. Still, I haven’t stopped believing in people. In fact, I’ll prove it—I’ll twine around your ankles until you bend down and scratch behind my ears. I’ll lean in, soft and trusting, asking you to stay.I get along wonderfully with other cats and even dogs, but what I crave most is you. Your touch, your voice, your love. I’ll sit in my blue cloth kitty box like a king on his throne, or curl by the window and watch the world outside, forever grateful that I don’t have to live it anymore. My meow may be tiny, but my heart? It’s enormous. I love food—soft meals, a sprinkle of cheese, even fish skin. But more than anything, I’m hungry for love, for a forever family who sees me not as a shadow but as a treasure they’ll never let go.Please… I’ve already spent too much of my life waiting. Don’t let me keep waiting. Will you be the one to love this silky mini-panther forever? Love,Spencer If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. October 18, 2025, 1:44 am

Don’t ask how that happened — humans are strange, but I’ve learned to roll with it. I answer to both, especially if snacks are on the table. I’m nearly 8 years old now and would do well with older children. While I’m small in size, I carry a presence that fills the room. Small but mighty — that’s me. I’ve got a big personality tucked into this sleek little body, and I don’t mind letting you know when I have something to say. I’m a talker. I like to tippy-tap my paws and chatter when we have our conversations. It’s my thing. My four friends have found their new homes. Both sets where brother and sister and needed to go together. I'm kind of the 'odd girl out' but I'm just as darling. I've am quite affectionate. I'm a darling girl that would be a lovely companion and friend. I'd be just fine being your only kitty baby. Did you notice my HUGE beautiful eyes? Things are changing fast. I’m losing my home through no fault of my own, and I need to find a new one QUICKLY! Somewhere I can be myself — quirky, sweet, and full of stories to tell you. I’ve been through a lot, but I still believe there’s a perfect person out there who will see me and say, “Yes. Her.” Could that be you? With soft paws and a sassy spirit,Bagheera (or Gary, if that’s your vibe) *GUEST POSTING* If you would like to meet your new best friend(s), contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi… I’m Michael. I’m a black Bombay boy with a big heart, and for a while, I didn’t have a place to belong. I used to hang around a house where everything smelled warm and safe. I would sit by the door and hope maybe — just maybe — someone would let me inside. I tried so hard to make friends with the kitty who lived there. I was gentle. I was patient. I even tried little chirps and soft purrs to show her I meant no harm. But she hated me.Really, truly hated me. No matter what I did, she chased me, hissed at me, and made sure I knew I wasn’t welcome. I didn’t understand why. I just wanted a friend. I just wanted a home. The human who lived there was kind to me, though. She could see that I was trying, and she worried — really worried — that her kitty might hurt me. She said I deserved so much more than fear and cold nights outside. And one day, she reached out for help… and everything changed. I was brought to a foster home filled with kindness. And guess what? There’s a kitty here who actually likes me — and I love her right back. I finally have a friend! We play, nap, and share space without anyone trying to chase me away. It feels so good, I can’t even put it into words. That’s why I’ll need at least one friendly kitty in my forever home. I’ve learned that I’m happiest when I have another cat to love. I’ve also learned that I’m really good at being indoors. My foster mom says I’m a perfect gentleman — clean, polite, and truly grateful. I love people so much. I love being close, cuddling into soft blankets, leaning into hands that pet me, and rubbing my head against the people who make me feel safe. I guess that’s what happens when you’ve known loneliness… you treasure love extra hard.I’m handsome, they say — shiny black fur, bright eyes — and sometimes I act a little silly just to make my humans laugh. A goofy flop here, a playful twirl there… it feels good to be happy again. But even with all this joy, a part of me still wonders when it will be my turn. When someone will choose me — forever. When I’ll finally hear the door open and know that I’m home for good, not just visiting. I’ve waited a long time for that feeling. If you have love to give… if you have a friendly kitty who wouldn’t mind a gentle sweetheart like me… if you want a cuddly boy who will adore you with his whole heart… Then maybe — just maybe — I’m the one you’ve been looking for, too.
