Story
Laramie had a great time during the Canine Olympics at Coker University, and won the 🏅 award for the “Best Plop.” One of our volunteers said Laramie had to be carried from her kennel to the van, but was completely different once in the community setting. She was fantastic on the leash, she still decided when she wanted to walk and when she didn’t, but it was purely based on what she wanted to do, not fear or shyness, anyone could pet her, and she smiled the whole time. She is certainly an easy, laid-back companion type of girl. She didn’t even walk to the starting point of the zoomies event, she knew she wasn’t going to do it 😆. So if you’re looking for a Couch Potato🥔 Laramie is your girl!🐾🐾Laramie is a sweet and darling girl and gets along with everyone she meets. Other dogs, she loves them! People, give her more! Laramie enjoys to romp around when getting out of her kennel although only for a bit because she then enjoys the calming atmosphere of the sun on her face. Laramie has blossomed from shy girl to social sweetie. She has grown very well with leash walking since first arriving in December. Once past the shelter halls, the leash is no biggie and it’s game on for affection! So if you’re looking to add a little bit of love to your every day life, we have a Little Bit here with a whole lot of love to go around. Ask us about Laramie today.

Story
Arya is a lovable shelter dog who is in search of her forever home. She is a 47 lb female American Staffordshire Terrier and Lab Mix with a stunning deep chocolate coat that appears almost black, earning her the affectionate nickname "Brown Sugar" from her foster dad. Arya was brought to the Darlington County Humane Society on 7/27/2023 with an injured leg, which limited her ability to play and raised concerns about her interactions with other dogs.Sadly, due to overcrowding and concerns about behavior issues, Arya found herself on a euthanasia list. However, fate intervened when her foster mom heard about her situation and immediately visited Arya at the shelter. In a heartwarming moment, Arya climbed into her lap and gave her one of her signature hugs. Touched by this sweet and affectionate gesture, her foster mom decided to take a leap of faith and brought Arya home instead.Arya quickly adapted to her foster family, consisting of eight other dogs, including one with a neurological disorder. Her gentle and friendly nature allowed her to seamlessly integrate into the pack, getting along well with every member. Arya's foster family describes her as loving, resilient, and a true joy to be around.Arya's personality is as delightful as her appearance. She is a playful and energetic dog who loves nothing more than engaging in fun activities. Whether it's a game of fetch, going for a long walk, or exploring the outdoors, Arya is always up for an adventure. Her injured leg has healed completely, leaving only a few very small scars, as she continues to show her zest for life.Along with her playful nature, Arya is incredibly affectionate. She showers her foster family with love, giving them her signature hugs that melt hearts. She thrives on human companionship and cherishes any opportunity to be near her loved ones. Whether it's snuggling on the couch, receiving belly rubs, or simply being by your side, Arya is happiest when she can shower her humans with affection.Being an eager-to-please dog, Arya is quick to learn and follows commands with enthusiasm. She quickly adapted to crate training and learned basic commands. She is a smart girl who is eager to please and would thrive with an owner who is willing to provide consistent training and positive reinforcement. With her combination of intelligence and willingness to learn, Arya could excel in various activities such as obedience training or agility.Overall, Arya's personality shines through her playful nature, affectionate demeanor, and her eagerness to please. She is a loyal and loving companion who is ready to bring endless joy to her forever home.Leaving the past far behind her, Arya is now on a journey to find her forever home where she can continue to spread love and joy. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion, Arya might just be the perfect match for you. Give this amazing dog a chance, and she will reward you with endless love and companionship.
