Sparky (A143505) is a 2-year-old Caucasian shepherd who weighed over 100 lbs at intake!09/19/26 This beautiful, big girl is Sparky! Sparky was brought to the shelter due to a divorce leading to some major life changes. While Caucasian shepherds are usually known to be aloof, Sparky has been well-socialized and was described as being incredibly sweet, especially with kids! Sparky was said to be housebroken and kennel trained. She knows some basic commands such as `paw` to give her paw and `shake` for when she is covered in snow and needs to shake it off before coming in the house! Sparky was said to do okay with other dogs after proper, slow introductions. She will not be the kind of dog you can throw into the car with your other dog in the shelter parking lot. She was said to not mind cats though. Please make sure any and all introductions are done in a slow and controlled manner to allow for the best possible outcome. Sparky previously lived in on-base housing and was said to jump the 4-ft fences there. She is approximately 4-ft tall herself, so it likely wasn't that hard for her. Caution should be taken when leaving her outside even within a 6-ft fence. Sparky was described as being outgoing, friendly and affectionate. She has been known to jump on people and to dig. Ruger is the type of dog who loves keeping both his body and brain moving! This handsome guy is at his happiest when he has structure, a positive outlet for his energy, and plenty of opportunities for enrichment. Whether he’s learning something new, exploring the outdoors, or simply spending time with his people, Ruger is always ready to make the most out of his day! Even with all that energy and enthusiasm, Ruger still manages to be one of the sweetest guys around. He loves meeting new people and making friends, and so far, we have yet to meet someone that Ruger doesn’t love! When he’s happy to see you, Ruger puts on his very best puppy dog eyes and happily sits at your feet. Combined with his large size and handsome face, he’s pretty hard not to adore!The great outdoors is truly where Ruger shines! He recently discovered our Miles & Mutts adventures, and we don’t think he could be happier about it. Hitting the trails, breathing in the fresh air, and getting the chance to explore the world around him has quickly become one of his greatest joys. Ruger would love a home where he can continue enjoying adventures while also having opportunities to keep his intelligent mind busy. Ruger presents himself as a confident, dominant male and Anatolian Shepherds tend to be selective with other dogs. Often being natural guardians to their family and environment. Ruger is most successful with other dogs when his boundaries are respected. He may do best with female canine friends, and we are always happy to provide a dog-to-dog meet and greet prior to adoption if needed! Ruger may be potty trained, although it can be difficult to know for certain in a shelter environment. Like any dog transitioning into a new home, he will need time to decompress, adjust, and learn his new routine. Ruger generally walks well on a leash and knows the cues sit and down. If you’re looking for a big, handsome adventure buddy with a sweet personality and plenty of brains to match his energy, Ruger may be the perfect companion for you!
