Story
Otis is an 11-month old AKC Great Dane weighing 125 pounds (and growing). He came to the shelter after his owner could no longer care for him. Great Dane's are not your average dog, with their large size comes large responsibilities. Potential adopters must have previous experience with Great Danes or show us they have done their homework and are prepared to take on Otis. Otis, aka Otie Boy, loves to run around a big yard and love on everyone he meets! He gets really excited with new people because that means more pets and belly rubs! All he wants is attention and someone to lean on. He loves the outdoors and would stay outside all day if he could, but inside is nice to as long as he's with his person. Loves toys, nyla bones and his rubber tire are his favorites! He does not like to be left alone, extreme separation anxiety, currently on Trazodone to help with anxiety. He LOVES food! His favorite is salmon & steak, but he'll eat anything you give him! Diet will be important for his growth and to prevent GDV. Otis is very smart! Knows commands sit, lay down, come, stay, shake (paw and other paw), and up (if you want him on your shoulders)! Just snap your fingers and he'll listen really well! He's great with children (but not babies, he can be too energetic and step on them or knock them over). Due to his separation anxiety his ideal home is where he has to spend as little time as possible by himself with lots of space. His adoption fee is $425, this includes his neuter (scheduled with our veterinarian), vaccines current (including rabies), deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!
