Story
This pet is in our Los Molinos Sanctuary. Please call to schedule an appointment. Meet Matcha! Matcha is a sweet girl that loves to run around and play. She's good on lead and loves to go for walks. Matcha can be a bit shy at first so she may take a minute to open up to new people. She can be a bit jumpy and excitable, so she would do best in a home with moderate to high activity. Matcha has not yet been cat tested, so she may need to be introduced first. Schedule an appointment today! Call 530-895-8888. We don’t offer holds; pets can be adopted anytime. Schedule an appt or simply apply to adopt. Applied in the last 6 months? Just call!

Story
Piper is a 1-year-old, 44-pound Kelpie mix (best guess!) with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This friendly and outgoing girl loves meeting new people and is always ready to make a new friend. True to her active nature, Piper thrives outdoors and is happiest when she’s exploring, playing, or soaking up the sunshine. She has a playful spirit and would do best with a family who can keep her engaged and give her plenty of exercise and enrichment. Piper is also very food motivated, which makes her a great candidate for training. She’s eager to learn and will happily work for a tasty reward, making bonding and teaching new skills a fun experience. Beyond her playful side, Piper is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves pets and attention, and once she’s had her fun, she’s more than happy to settle in for some love. If you’re looking for an energetic, loving companion who’s always up for adventure and cuddles, Piper could be your perfect match! 💛 All dogs that are adopted from Butte Humane Society come microchipped, spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, placed on preventions for heartworm, and flea and tick-borne illnesses. Not good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Leo is a very smart prankster. He loves long walks with volunteers who have learned to reserve treats until the end of the walk. He knows basic commands and a few “tricks” someone taught him somewhere along his path. He will make someone a great hiking buddy. Leo is totally capable of keeping up with the fastest humans. Leo would probably do best with teenagers and older. His moves are too quick for younger children. If you are an active adult or family with older children looking for a hiking partner, Leo might be your buddy. This animal is at the City of Chico Animal Shelter. Story
Ollie may be shy at first, but beneath his cautious exterior is a sweet, playful, and incredibly loving dog just waiting for the right person to help him shine. He needs a little patience and understanding as he learns to trust, but once he feels safe, his true personality begins to emerge—and it`s absolutely worth the wait.During his week in foster care, Ollie was timid and unsure at the very beginning, avoiding petting and human interaction. While he appeared to have experienced hardship in the past, he never showed any aggression—only a desire to trust. With the guidance of a calm resident senior dog and a patient environment, Ollie slowly blossomed. By day four, he welcomed gentle head scratches, and by the end of the week, he was enjoying full-body pets and lying next to his foster family during TV time. In fact, Ollie loves to watch TV and follows along with great interest!Ollie is doing wonderfully with leash walking. While he still needs some confidence when it`s time to put the leash on, once he`s out the door, he`s a natural. He especially enjoys exploring hiking trails and is fascinated by the world around him—from mountain bikers and runners to other dogs and new sights and smells. His curiosity and gentle nature make every adventure enjoyable. As his confidence grows, so does his playful side. By the end of his foster stay, Ollie was initiating games, army-crawling onto the couch for attention, and showing off his beautiful smile and golden eyes. These small milestones revealed just how much love he has to give.Ollie would thrive with an active individual or family willing to give him time to settle in and build trust. A home with another friendly, confident dog could be especially beneficial. If there are children in the home, Ollie would likely do best with calmer, respectful kids who understand that he prefers gentle interactions over loud or chaotic activity.Ollie isn`t just looking for a home—he`s looking for someone who will see the amazing dog he is becoming. Give him patience, kindness, and a little time, and you`ll gain a loyal companion who will reward you with endless love and devotion. A generous donor sponsored Ollie`s adoption fee.

Story
Pepper is a cattle dog through and through. High energy. She is shy and has very high anxiety which causes tension between my other dogs. If she has a toy or task to keep her occupied her anxiety dissappears. Would thrive as a working dog. Not good with cats. She is great with my teenager, I don't think she would be okay around toddlers.Would be a great working dog. She has adapted well to a boundry collar and harness.
