Very friendly. He barks when the doorbell rings. When company comes inside, he has to be introduced or he keeps barking. He lets you know when it is time for walkies. My cats sleep with him, groom him, rub on him... he is very tolerant. The cats have swiped their claws at him, but he has never tried to hurt them. His shepherding instincts are very high...if he thinks someone should be moved out of the way, then he gently stands sideways in their path until he is acknowledged. When I take him for a walk om his leash and he senses caution, then he will walk close to my side to keep me from going that way.He knows where our yard is and stays inside our fence. Once, when we were playing in the yard, I accidently threw his ball outside the fence...He would not go get it,,, but he did follow alongside me to go get it.Totally clean bill of health from the veterinarian. Weight is 45 lbs.

We recently had her DNA tested, and she is a Mini Australian Shepherd/Heeler mix — and she definitely got the best traits from both breeds. She is incredibly smart, energetic, loving, and eager to learn. She would thrive in a home with room to run, play, and burn off her energy, along with someone who is willing to be consistent with training and give her the structure she needs. She is a very smart girl and picks things up quickly when given guidance and consistency. She absolutely loves other animals! She gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and even our chickens. Most of all, she loves being with her people and wants to be part of whatever you’re doing! She would make an amazing companion for someone who enjoys an active dog and is ready to put the time into helping her become the very best version of herself. Koda has had quite the journey with us. He came to us with an old fracture to his front right paw. We started him on pain medication right away. Over the next several weeks, his demeanor changed from aggressive to playful and affectionate. He was neutered, and his front right leg amputated to ease his discomfort for the future. He recovered amazingly well, like he doesn't even notice something is missing! Koda doesn't love other dogs walking by his kennel, but he is fine with them in a larger fenced area. We would do a meet and greet prior to adoption if you have another dog. Koda is approximately two years old, and would be ever so grateful for a loving family to call his own! Meet our resilient little firecracker! Moon, a 6 year old, 10 lb Miniature Australian Shepherd mix may have faced some hurdles, but she is officially ready to find her perfect forever home. Moon was surrendered by her owner who has had her since she was 9 weeks old due to a new baby in the home & schedule. Owner reports Moon is house trained, was free to roam but crated when needed and knows commands "sit" & " high five". Don't let her neurological condition fool you- she has difficulty using her back legs, but she doesn't let that slow her down for a second! She has a massiive zest for life and absolutely loves spending time outside in the play yard. Her favorite hobby is sitting proudly in the grass, checking out all the goings-on, and surpervising the yard. She definately appears house trained letting you know she needs to go out by barking in her kennel. When Moon first arrived at the rescue after being surrendered, she was understandably terrified. She was too overwhelmed to eat & would try to nip if anyone got too close. But with time, patience, & love, she has shown us what a brave girl she truly is! Because she can still be a little defensive when startled or pushed too fast, she will thrive best in a patient, adult-only home (or home with older dog-savvy teenagers) where she can continue to decompress and bond at her own pace. Because of her neurological condition, she needs a home with few obstacles or steps so she can navigate her space safely. A small securely fenced yard would be great to allow her to roam, explore & supervise the neighborhood at her own pace.
