Story
He was born March 24, 2023. The firstborn & only boy in a litter of 5. He is sweet, easy tempered, and loves affection. I have a hard time walking around cause he's glued to my side wanting to be near. He is about 60 lbs, has medium-long fur & was born with a short tail. Even with his thick coat, he does not like the cold. He does possess a flea bite allergy & requires oral flea prevention to prevent flare-ups. He is a jump enthusiast that part-takes in a bit of fence parkour. He will proudly shout to anyone near or far to give him attention. He looks intimidating but there hasn't been a single person or child that wasn't able to give him belly-rubs. The only concerning thing about him is his high prey drive that has sadly ended the life of a few chickens. He does know a few commands.

Story
She was born March 24, 2023. The second born in a litter of 5. She is sweet, very active, and loves playing fetch. She is about 50 lbs, has short fur, and was born with half a tail. She is on guard towards unknown individuals and will let you know if something is amiss. She is a jumping extraordinaire and could put Houdini to shame with her escape feats. I use either a heavy thick chain or an electric fence to keep her within the yard due to her hyperactivity. She looks small but has a deep bellow in her bark that would scare away intruders. She does have a high prey drive and has gone after chickens but was never successful. She is highly intelligent and learned commands fairly quickly. Also, she is a heavy chewer.

Meet Sauvignon … a special needs girl! LOOKING FOR IMMEDIATE FOSTER OR ADOPTER. Introducing Sauvignon the adorable Mini Australian Shepherd with hearts as big as her playful spirit. Abandoned at a cemetery alongside her sister and a Mini Pyrenees friend, Chardonnay, this resilient pup is now looking for her forever home, but there's a catch she’s hearing impaired. Unique Challenges and Needs Sauvignon is a victim of irresponsible breeding practices, specifically the breeding of double merles, which often results in health issues. While her vision is intact, she is hearing impaired. However, she n’t completely deaf; responds well to squeaky toys but but doesn’t hear everything. This means she requires an adopter who is not only loving but also conscientious about her safety. Ideal Home Environment She is about two years old and weighs approximately 28 pounds. She is extremely friendly, active, and absolutely love playtime. Here’s what you need to know about her ideal living situation: Adopter Requirements: They need someone who understands her unique needs and can provide a safe environment. Playfulness: Sauvignon is energetic and at this time would be better as an only dog. While she was friendly with other dogs here at the rescue, when placed in a foster situation she became extremely jealous of the foster’s pets. Keep in mind that she was abandoned and this is probably her very first home and first chance at having her own human. She became very jealous, very fast. So we do not wish to set her up for failure. The foster is continuing to work with her on hand signals and will be happy to talk to you about her. Training: They are fair on a leash and quick learners. Safety: They stay well within a secure fence, ensuring they can play safely. Health and Adoption Details She is in excellent health. Up-to-date on all vaccinations, spayed, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Additionally, she has received a ProHeart 12 injection, offering heartworm protection for 12 months. How to Adopt Sauvignon is available for adoption through Barking Mad Animal Rescue. If you’re interested in bringing these delightful pups into your home, please fill out an application for foster or adoption. The link to the application can be found in the rescue's post. She is more than just a pet—she is a loving companion ready to fill your home with joy and laughter. Will you be the one to give Sauvignon the loving home she deserves? Adoption fees to the Maritimes are $625 per dog. because she is special needs, I can ask for sponsors to help pay her fees. Payment plans are available. And fosters pay zero fees.
We'll also keep you updated on Sauvignon's adoption status with email updates.

Story
We rescued Ozzie in July 2025. She had been dumped (we think) in the National Forest because she was about to deliver a litter of puppies. We brought her home and she had 12 puppies! We have re-homed most, but still need to find a forever home for Ozzie. She is very sweet, and almost full Aussie (we had DNA done on puppies). We estimate she is 5-7 years old. She is a great mother, good with other dogs, our cat and kids. She needs room to roam, because she is a herder and prefers to wander. She is very smart and loves to smile! She has been fixed, has all shots and has been loved immensely during her time with us. BUT we can’t keep her.
