We are pre-approving applicants. To schedule an appointment, first fill out our adoption application ( https://cb8f5fb7-0a87-40fa-8ea5-50c4da40acd3.filesusr.com/ugd/c8cb9f_8cd13866ecd54a42a2b424d2b2f8dc10.pdf ). This will ask you questions about which animal you’re interested in, your family, other furry members in the household, whether you own or rent your home and who your Veterinarian is. These allow us to make the best match possible. We touch base with your landlord due to the unfortunate number of landlords who do not allow pets in Franklin County. Our goal with checking in with your Veterinarian is to ensure that the animals of FCAR receive the medical care they deserve. Once we have a positive reference from your landlord (if you rent) and Veterinarian, we will contact you to schedule an appointment with us! If you don't have any pets we understand you would not have a vet reference and we ask for applicants to substitute a personal reference. Please keep in mind, appointments are first come, first serve, based on when your application is approved. Please be patient with your Veterinarian and landlord, as their staff and businesses have been affected by COVID-19 as well. We are incredibly thankful that there has been no shortage in interest! This being said, our staff is limited and we are doing our absolute best to approve applications in a timely manner. This process can take up to a few weeks, but most are approved before then.

Story
*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.* Apollo is a 1 year old Aussie mix who is ready to play! He loves going on walks and can't wait to meet his new best friend! Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be. This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.   ##2016310##
