Story
Looking for a professional lap warmer who doubles as your new favorite road trip co-pilot? Penny Chai is ready to claim her forever spot preferably right on top of you! Penny is the kind of girl who takes a minute to warm up and then suddenly you realize she’s chosen you as her person. When she feels safe, she blossoms into the sweetest companion: affectionate, loyal, and always close by. She doesn’t need the spotlight; she just wants to be near her humans. Penny is the perfect little adventure buddy. Long walks, patio cafés, community events, or shopping trips. She is ready to tag along and quietly win hearts wherever she goes. She may start a little shy, but when she chooses you, it’s forever. Penny Chai has a way of making people smile wherever she goes watch her video https://youtu.be/IPeR9y8lIqQ At just 1 year old and 19 lbs, we believe Penny Chai is a Mini Aussie mix. Of course, she’s a rescue so while we can’t guarantee breed or age, this isn’t a wild guess, just an educated observation based on her look and traits. She’s on the smaller side, making her easy to walk, easy to travel with, and easy to scoop into the car for spontaneous outings. Compact, manageable, and full of love Penny is the perfect size for both everyday adventures and cozy nights in. Penny is a huge lap dog in the best way possible. She truly believes personal space is optional and will happily curl up right on you for movie nights, quiet mornings, or anytime you sit down. She loves being part of your everyday routine whether that’s hanging out at home, going for peaceful walks, or riding along for an adventure. happily be your walking buddy, training partner, and everyday sidekick. She enjoys roaming the yard but checks in often and loves having direction. She’s treat motivated (which makes training fun and rewarding!) and would thrive with someone who enjoys engaging her smart, working-breed brain. Penny is currently in foster and has done well in that environment. She is kennel trained, settles nicely, and rides wonderfully in the car. In fact, she loves car rides and would happily be your co-pilot. Beach day? She’s in. Weekend getaway? She’s ready. She would do best in a home with older kids (8+) who can match her calm, respectful vibe. She enjoys being part of the family and thrives with gentle interactions. With other dogs, Penny is social and does well with calm companions. She enjoys coexisting and would especially shine with a lower energy dog who appreciates relaxed company. She could also be perfectly happy as your one and only, soaking up all the attention herself. As for cats, we don’t have a definitive answer just yet! If there’s a kitty in the home we can schedule a little “sleepover” with a kitty to be sure everyone feels comfortable. Penny could thrive in a home with a yard where she can explore and stretch her legs, but she could also do beautifully in an apartment as long as she gets regular walks and enrichment. She’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply, loves structure, and truly blossoms with guidance. As she settles in, you may notice a few classic Aussie-style quirks which really just means she’s smart, sensitive, and happiest when she has a “job,” even if that job is simply being your loyal little shadow. Young, vibrant, and incredibly devoted, Penny will be a beautiful addition to many different types of homes. Whether she joins a family with another dog or becomes your one and only, she’ll remind you every single day how much our hearts need the simple, steady companionship of an adoring dog. She’s ready and waiting for her forever home. If you’re ready for a smart, loyal companion who just needs a little time to shine, Penny is waiting. Story
Name: Yetti Breed: Miniature Australian Shepherd (Double Merle) Age: Puppy Special Feature: partially Blind but built like a Jedi BIO: “Well, well, well… look who wandered into the spotlight. It’s me — Yetti — Gumbo’s newest coworker and the fluffiest pothole inspector you’ll ever meet. Yes, I’m blind. No, I’m not sad about it. I can map out a room faster than a Roomba with an attitude problem.” Yetti is a blind double merle Mini Aussie, which means humans messed up his genetics, not his spirit. He navigates by nose, whiskers, and vibes — and honestly? He does it better than most humans with perfect vision. Yetti is: Smart as all get-out Playful and joyful Sweet, cuddly, and gentle Not slowed down by blindness AT. ALL. He learns routines quickly and bonds deeply with his people. He needs a home that keeps things consistent, safe, and loving — and he’ll do the rest. If you’re looking for a dog who doesn’t know he’s “special needs”… You’re looking at him. Gumbo says, “Adopt Yetti, or I will personally come hide all your socks.” Fee: $395 + ENDLESS patience and love! Currently located in Fosters, AL and can be transported North to an adopter for an additional $200. Interested in adopting? Story
*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.* Apollo is a 1 year old Aussie mix who is ready to play! He loves going on walks and can't wait to meet his new best friend! Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be. This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $500 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.   ##2016310##
