Story
Dot "Luna" was initially adopted as a puppy and was recently returned at 6 years old due to divorce. She is completely overwhelmed at the shelter but she has lived with children, another dog in a temporary situation, but would need a lower energy dog, and is reported to be potty trained and rides well in a car. What a difference a week and all the staff at TAPS giving Dot "Luna" lots of TLC. She is still timid but gets excited to see staff now compared to not even being able to look her in the eyes before. Luna is an almost 6 year old Terrier mix. She will need a patient family that will continue to help her with socialization. She loves treats and belly rubs. She is smart knows basic commands and beg. She is dog and kid friendly, potty trained but will need help adjusting to anew home, walks well on leash, and rides well in the car. If you think you are the right fit and can commit to her forever, then apply

Story
This adorable little lady is Tootsie. She is roughly 5 years old and only 37lbs. She was found as a stray and as soon as her hold was up she came to IEBR. She tested positive for heart worms and as been fully treated and doing great. As we got to know Tootsie in her foster home it seems most likely she was abused with her previous owners but she learned to trust her foster parents and is a super sweet girl. She is crate trained but prefers to sleep with her foster mom. Because of her past abuse we are looking for a home with no children and a calm fur sibling or be an only dog. Are you that family? If you are interested in Tootsie, please visit our website: www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org, and read through our adoption criteria to see if you meet our requirements. If you do, please fill out an application to adopt. Tootsie's adoption fee is: $650.00 Visit us on Facebook: Visit us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IllinoisEnglishBulldogRescue

Story
Hi there! My name is Dozer and I am 9 years old and a big boy at 75lbs. I am a very affectionate dog and I love hugs, children, and every person that I meet. I get along well with my 2 foster siblings, bunnies, and chickens. Although I get along well with other animals, I don’t care to play with other dogs and would much rather hang out with humans. When postal workers or delivery drivers come to the porch, I bark to let my foster parents know that they have a delivery. I love curling up on the couch and on the laps of humans. My foster parents say that sometimes, I don’t realize how big I am when I curl up on their laps but that does not stop my foster parents from letting me curl up on their laps because I am a very good boy. I do not like lightning and thunder and may pace or try to be next to humans in order to feel better. I do not mind regular rain showers and will sleep through them just fine. I do not like my kennel and will try to get out of it but I do very well in a room with a door shut or a pet gate in the doorway. Normally, I lay on the couch with my 2 foster siblings and have free reign of the house when my foster parents are not home because I am a very good boy. I love the outdoors, walks, car rides, and helping my foster parents around the house with their chores. When I got to my foster home, I had a lot of bald spots and some dry skin. Now, I only have a few bald spots that my foster mom calls “alopecia” but my foster mom tells me that it is just a cosmetic issue and not a health issue. Everyone who has met me just loves me and my foster parents tell me that whoever adopts me will be so lucky. If you are interested in Dozer, please visit our website: www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org, and read through our adoption criteria to see if you meet our requirements. If you do, please fill out an application to adopt. Dozer's adoption fee is: $350.00 Visit us on Facebook: Visit us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IllinoisEnglishBulldogRescue

Story
Hello world, meet Grey! Grey had a rough start to life, and came to IEBR when she was almost six months old. She has come so far in her healing and has blossomed into a goofy and loving young lady! Grey was born with spina bifida, a congenital defect of the spinal cord. As a result, she has some weakness in her hind limbs and is a fully incontinent diaper girl. When she came into rescue, this sweet baby also had two partially torn cranial cruciate ligaments in her knees, but they are scarring over and stabilizing without surgery and her mobility and endurance have increased tremendously in the past several months. Grey has the sweetest disposition, loves all people, and is friendly with other dogs. A playful fur sibling would be a dream come true for her. Also on her wish list are a comfy couch, someone to give her shoulder massages and snuggles, and access to as many tennis balls as possible. Grey has three modes: sacked out and snoring, sweet and cuddly, and up and ready to play and won’t leave you alone until you throw her ball at least a few times. Her puppy energy comes out in little bursts throughout the day and she gets restless without daily exercise, so play time and/or daily short walks are a must. The rest of the time she is happy to nap on the back of the couch, where she can enjoy both the view and the sunbeams. Grey’s ideal living situation would be a home with few stairs and access to a fenced yard for play. Her regular physical maintenance includes all of the normal bulldog stuff like cleaning face wrinkles and ears, administering eye ointment for her dry eye, and moisturizing her cute little nose as needed. In addition, Grey requires diaper changes every 3-4 hours during the day. Her skin is prone to irritation, so each change includes a thorough cleaning and application of diaper cream and Aquaphor. Her foster parents strongly recommend using a sturdy changing table; this is what Grey is used to and it makes her maintenance so much easier! Grey requires daily diaper-free “naked time” to allow her skin to breathe and air out. She is currently crated with no diaper overnight and any time her foster parents need to be away from home longer than 3-4 hours. Her crate needs to be cleaned daily and her bedding laundered. Grey would like her future family to know that bathtime is the BEST time, especially when a peanut butter lick mat is involved. As soon as she hears someone getting a towel from the linen closet, she runs straight to the tub! Grey has gotten along so well with other puppies, younger dogs, and her senior foster brother. She does get warned off on occasion for being too enthusiastic and affectionate but she responds well to this and backs off when she needs to. Grey enjoyed the company of her littermate Frida until she was about 8-10 months old, at which point Frida developed aggression toward Grey (which is common in littermates). She lives every day like it’s Tongues Out Tuesday and greets every morning like it’s the Best Day Ever. What more could you wish for? This sweet, sensitive, goofy girl will be a loyal and loving member of a lucky forever family! If you are interested in Grey please visit our website: www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org, and read through our adoption criteria to see if you meet our requirements. If you do, please fill out an application to adopt. Greys's adoption fee is $550.00 Visit us on Facebook: Visit us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IllinoisEnglishBulldogRescue

Story
A little about Vivi and Leona. These two almost 4-year-old sisters are truly besties. They love to sleep together, cuddle, and sit beside each other. They are both house-trained. We are working with them to signal when they need to go outside, but they are quick to do their business and yes, they follow each other to where they go. Leona is VERY energetic and puppy-like. She is learning new commands when jumping to much and sitting when prepping her harness. She is treat motivated. She does enjoy rolling around and talking to herself. She eats fast, so trying to slow that down and prefers a raised bowl, as she has had a few spit ups after eating. She is good with other dogs and people. She loves being pet and lots of belly rubs. She is protective of Vivi and will whine if she is out of sight or to far away for longer periods of time. Vivi is more gentle, quieter and fluffy. She loves to cuddle and be pet regularly. She is treat motivated and good on a harness. She has some skin sensitivties and allergies. Needs attention to what she is eating and watching her paws and under her legs for itching and redness. She loves to get Leona going and they play very well together. She can be a little instigator at times, waking up Leona. They both listen to basic commands, more training needed in excited moments. Food allergies for Vivi will be a constant issue to watch and care for. Leona has a little spot of redness, but the vet believes that can be corrected with the right food. They sleep well, and there are no accidents at night. They both truly think they are lap dogs and love to lick your face, a lot. They girls are a bonded pair and will need to be adopted together when they are ready. If you are interested in Vivi and Leona please visit our website: www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org, and read through our adoption criteria to see if you meet our requirements. If you do, please fill out an application to adopt. Vivi and Leona's adoption fee is: $1,000.00 Visit us on Facebook: Visit us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IllinoisEnglishBulldogRescue

Story
This is Sofi, Sofi is 6 years old. You might remember that Sofi came in with her brother Larry. When we get dogs from the same family, we like to keep them in the same foster home if at all possible, to determine if they are a bonded pair. We quickly realized that Sofi and Larry are not bonded. In fact, they are very independent of one another. Sofi’s foster mom says this about Sofi. “She is an absolute snuggle bug”. “She is an easy dog who doesn’t require much except for your love and snuggles”. With that said, Sofi is being treated for anxiety. She is on a low dose anti-anxiety medication 2x daily. Sofi is fully house broken. She tolerates other dogs but doesn’t love to have them take her humans love. She currently lives in a home with her sibling Larry and another foster and is good with them (no food or toy aggression) but would thrive in a home where she is the only dog. For this reason, we are looking for a family that will make Sofi their one and only! Are you looking for an absolute snuggle bug to fill your heart with love? If so, Sofi is your girl. Sofi will be ready for adoption very soon. If you think Sofi is a fit fill out your application today!! If you are interested in Sofi please visit our website: www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org, and read through our adoption criteria to see if you meet our requirements. If you do, please fill out an application to adopt. Sofi adoption fee is: $600.00 Visit us on Facebook: Visit us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IllinoisEnglishBulldogRescue

Story
Introducing Mushu, the spirited pup with a heart of gold, ready to add some joy and laughter to your life! Mushu is a two-year-old Shar-Pei that weighs 40.7 pounds. He's fully housetrained. In the crate, Mushu is a bit of an escape artist if the crate does not have a double latch, but once he settles down, he's content to snooze the day away, especially if it means being close to his favorite people and furry companions. This energetic boy loves nothing more than spending time with his foster family, whether it's lounging on the couch, exploring the yard with his canine friends, or embarking on exciting walks. Mushu is a playful soul who delights in toys, bones, and, most of all, cuddles with his human. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with everyone he meets, including cats, though he's yet to encounter male dogs. Mushu is a bright spark eager to learn new tricks, currently working on mastering sit, down, and shake. Described as friendly, outgoing, and loyal, he's sure to steal your heart with his affectionate nature and contagious zest for life. According to his foster mama, Mushu is a real charmer, with plenty of potential just waiting to be unlocked. He's a sweetheart who adores showering his loved ones with kisses and snuggles, but he's also a playful goofball who knows how to keep the laughs coming. With medium to high energy levels, Mushu would thrive in an active household, ideally one with a fenced-in yard where he can let loose and burn off some steam. Agility training might just be his calling, given his sharp mind and boundless enthusiasm for play. If you're searching for a furry companion who's equal parts fun and affection, look no further than Mushu. With a little structure and consistent training, he's sure to blossom into the perfect addition to your family. Come meet Mushu today and prepare to be charmed by his infectious personality!
